Georgia Tech is taking a shot at Trey Johnson, the Under Armour All-America linebacker who is committed to Ohio State.

It has to do with Ted Roof, the new defensive coordinator at Georgia. When Roof was at Auburn two years ago, he was the first to offer a football scholarship to Johnson.

Roof and Johnson also have the connection in that each starred at linebacker for Central Gwinnett High School.

?Trey said that Coach Roof is supposed to be coming by on (Thursday),? Central Gwinnett coach Todd Wofford told the AJC. ?I think Trey is still going to Ohio State, but he?s being respectful to Coach Roof and he?s going to listen to what he has to say.?

It would be a long shot for Georgia Tech to land Johnson, but anything can and does happen in recruiting.
