LB Trey Johnson (Official Thread)

Putting on the full court press. I'm guessing the coaches can sense he's close to giving a verbal.

It sure would be nice to see him commit when they visit, and decide to skip his upcoming visits to UF and USC.

This is a position of need. He came with his father. He got to see what Ohio State football is all about. The school to which he was verbally committed fired their head coach.

If we don't get this kid, it just wasn't meant to be because the pieces seem to be coming together on this one.

ESPN - Trey Johnson mum on future at Auburn

11/25

ESPN 150 linebacker Trey Johnson (Lawrenceville, Ga./Central Gwinnett), who was at the airport Sunday following an official visit to Ohio State, did not want to discuss the dismissal of Auburn head coach Gene Chizik.

"I do not want to talk about anything specific yet," Johnson said. "I want to wait and see who they bring in and continue to take my visits."

Auburn loses another high-prized football recruit
November 27, 2012, by Michael Carvell

Auburn has lost another high-prized commitment from Georgia.

Trey Johnson, a 4-star linebacker from Central Gwinnett High School, de-committed from Auburn on Tuesday, according to his coach.

?Trey is going to de-commit from Auburn today,? Central Gwinnett coach Todd Wofford said. ?Trey wants to be fair to himself and to the teams he has interest in. He isn?t going to address Auburn until they name a coach.?

Johnson?s de-commitment doesn?t come as much of a surprise. Ever since Gene Chizik was mentioned as being on the hotseat, Johnson has been openly researching other options.

He went on an official visit last weekend to Ohio State, which now may be the school to beat. Johnson will also take recruiting trips to Florida, USC and Penn State ? along with probably Auburn once it names a new coach. Ohio State coach Urban Meyer stopped by Ohio State two weeks ago.

I know we have a shot at both but who is better, this kid our Mitchelle?

They'll likely shake out at different positions but Mitchell is probably a tad higher rated. But just take a look at Trey's offer sheet (Alabama, Florida, USC, OSU, LSU) and you'll know he's a beast in his own right.

I see Mike Mitchell as a MIKE and Trey as a SAM. Best three linebackers will see the field whenever these guys get their turn though.

How do you get them on the field at the same time with, say, Josh Perry or Jamal Marcus?:banger:
