LB Tommy ‘Two Thumbs’ Eichenberg (Rose Bowl Def MVP, All B1G, All-American, Las Vegas Raiders)

“He works so hard,” Washington said. “So much of being great at anything starts with effort and passion. Tommy loves football. He loves it. He loves being at Ohio State. Tommy was a guy coming out of high school who was committed at one point to Boston College. That’s my alma mater. So I say that just to highlight the fact that he wasn’t always a blue-chip guy. He has always had a chip on his shoulder. He’s always had things to prove, that attitude.

“That’s what makes Tommy an elite player. That’s what’s going to make him an elite player. I won’t give him that title yet. He’s trending that way. He’s trending in that direction because of that chip, that sense of purpose, that sense of drive.”

Shout out to Tommy who has really stepped up his play the last couple games, specifically in the run game. He may be our best pass defender at LB and has laid the lumber on a couple of guys this year and also got an INT against Rutgers.

The entire D deserves a shout out for their improvement over the last several games. He’s definitely not the best pass defender though, routinely looks out of position on pass plays. He left his zone to give Maryland their first Td

He was very good vs Maryland after watching tonight. Not sure if he was a champion but if this guy puts it together our defense is going to be elite IMO. He's so noticeable size wise on the field and he's surprisingly pretty fast for his size.

Glad he's still trusted because he's for sure improving. Look back on his recruitment because I thought he reminded me of Carpenter and he still does. Carpenter didn't even take off until his senior year. IMO he's ahead of pace...

He's definitely looked better as the season has gone along, which is absolutely critical with the attrition we've had at the position. As mentioned above, I think Tommy is going to shine against most teams on the rest of our schedule, I think he's built perfectly for the likes of PSU, MSU, *ichigan, etc.
