LB Steele Chambers (Official Thread)

Steele Chambers is staying at Ohio State for his fifth-year senior season.

The Ohio State linebacker said Wednesday during interviews at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center that he has already made up his mind that he will stay at Ohio State for the 2023 season rather than entering the 2023 NFL draft.

After moving to linebacker prior to the 2021 season, Chambers said he wants to get another year of playing linebacker at he collegiate level under his belt before he moves on to the next level.

Per Austin Ward: Chambers, Eich, and Cade are roommates and 2 of the 3 are solid on returning (the other has a lot of pressure to return by the others but is leaning to do so).
That would be great for continuity..and outstanding for leadership. The rest of the D could rely on these two to know the D and direct the front and back.

I can't see Eichenberg going pro. I don't think it hurts or helps him either way to be honest. However maybe a 2nd straight 100 tackle season gets him into that 2-3 round area.

Regardless, you have to imagine our front 6 on defense next year will be even better than this seasons. I love Harrison/Vincent but I don't think they've got the ceiling of Williams/Sawyer etc.

Next years defense could be really really good. The DL/LBS will be elite and I think our secondary will be far improved too with Styles/Hancock/Stokes taking on bigger roles.

Side note, that's a really big secondary. Styles obviously will play near 230 pounds, Hancock is a 6 foot 1 200 pound guy and Stokes probably plays near 200 too.

Have to really like next year's team if we can figure out OL via transfer portal.

Not sure we need the portal on the OL. Fryar, maybe Matt Jones, Wypler, Jackson, Vihami, Tishbola, Fitzpatrick, Hinzman, James, Zen provide us with a good two deep.
Idk, we need as many big uglies as we can get on the OL. Vimahi, James and Zen were supposed to be one of the first OL off the bench, yet none of them really even played. I'd much rather a multiple year starter(at a lower tier, I know) be a backup at this point.

I think fans have good reason to believe we'll put together a solid OL with that bunch, but the inherent uncertainty is OT...replacing PJ and Dawand isn't going to happen but we just can't have a noticeable drop off. That said, it seems apparent with the spurt of transfer OL guys we want at least one veteran OL to come in. I tend to agree, but also don't think we're as screwed as most do if we somehow don't get one.
