LB Ryan Shazier (All B1G, All-American, 2017 Pro Bowl)

Shazier's results from this jersey scrimmage are pretty exciting, he seems to be catching on pretty quickly. He reportedly had the second most stops out of the LB's in the jersey scrimmage and ran down Braxton from behind. He's got some serious jets for a LB and his ability to pursue plays is pretty impressive. Hope he continues to progress.

He didn't run Braxton down from behind, he took a nice angle, got downhill in a hurry, and stopped Braxton from escaping the pocket. It definitely wasn't running down from behind, but it was still a very nice play and showed great quickness and instincts on Shaziers part.

Braxton was wearing a black jersey, but that was about the only time he was corralled all day. A couple other times defenders were awarded with arm tackles (no contact jersey), but Shazier had the only true stop on Braxton today IIRC.

I recall the same. Certainly the only time Braxton was stopped in the backfield (on something other than a called no contact tackle as you said).

Not to give any legitimacy to Herbie the Bronzer's analysis MO... but damn, this one has speed in spades.

Lots of red shirts burned today... I'm thinking that there's damn good reason for that... if they're all going to be this good... wow... just wow.

Really, really fun to zero in on him and watch him attack! Quickly has become a favorite for me to follow. Immense talent! A big time play-maker. I can't recall seeing another OSU linebacker this fast! This is (cough, cough) SEC speed! :tongue2: Already an absolute terror on defense.
