LB Ross Homan (official thread)

He ran a 4.57 (B. Hartline ran a 4.59 that same day) at the OSU summer camp. I am sure of that and you'll just have to trust me I guess. Those who know me can vouch for my sources.

As far as level of competition, he plays in the same league as St Henry, Delphos St Johns, Versailles, Maria Stein Marion Local, etc. So if you follow Ohio football at all, you'll get the picture. And Coldwater has made playoffs all three years he's been there. It's not like he's playing no one or playing for a bad team.

i believe you cavballer, you know your football for sure in my book.

i am familiar with the MAC and NW football somewhat but it doesn't change the fact that i am a NE ohio snob when it comes to high school football. put these same exact physicals and statistics on iggy or massillon or McK and i would be drooling (sadly). i am also very suspicious of small school talents until they do it in the playoffs in front of my eyes or in the camps.

homan sound like he has all the tools to be a success in big time college football, but what kind of player is he. specifically does he take the good angles to the ball or does he try to make every play himself like so many high school superstars and as a result leave the entire defense out to dry if he doesn't get there in time.

obviously he is making a ton of tackles but how is his form? i have never seen him and i don't venture up to NW ohio much anymore since doctor doug moved from toledo to columbus so i doubt i will see him unless he can make it to stark county week 15. any info here would be appreciated.

Totally understandable. I'll try to answer all your questions here. He does take pretty good angles most of the time, but he is aggressive and will rarely overrun a play. He's got tremendous sideline to sideline speed and the system is set up at Coldwater so that he can make most of the plays (linemen get good jams on OLine & FB to leave it open). He hits very hard and finishes off tackles. If he gets a hand on the ballcarrier, you're not going to see him get away.

I'm not trying to make him out to be the next AJ Hawk, but with his size/speed/performance at the OSU camp coupled with his disgusting statistics and rave reviews, I think he's gonna be a good one. I think he's going to be a solid player at the next level.

Emfinger has never seen Ross play and he doesn't even have film on him. Emfinger doesn't have film on hardly any of the guys on his list. I'd trust Lemming 100x before Emfinger, and that says a lot considering it's Tom Lemminghead.

In my continuing effort to make suggestions in the hopes that others will do all the work -

Can we add a parenthetical "(Offered)" or something to that effect to the thread title for kids OSU has offered? With so many new names it would be helpful to know which ones OSU is focusing on.

Then we would have the full life cycle from

1. nothing - just a recruit we have info about
2. offered - someone OSU has offered
3. verballed
4. signed
