LB Ross Homan (official thread)

Two things:

A) Figured I'd clarify before someone brings it up -- on Ross' profile it shows him as a 4.9 at the MSL combine in Cincy. Everyone ran slow times at the MSL camps this past year. Richard Quinn, the 6'4 215 pound WR from Maple Heights (going to UNC, had offers from Iowa & Wisky) ran a 4.97 that same day. And like I said, he ran faster than Brian Hartline at the OSU summer camp by two-tenths. He's got the speed.

B) As far as what Coldwater has coming back -- they have Ross and two other LB's coming back. They have their starting QB back (6'3 175) who threw for just under 2,000 last year. They lose their big play WR/DB who was a 3x All-MAC kid at WR & DB. They return two outstanding WR in Brady & Ryan Geier though. The big question (as on every team) will be the play of the line and the defense. I think they're good enough to finish the regular season at 10-0 and bad enough to finish at 6-4. You never know. Way too many question marks at this point.

Thanks CavBall! Great info!

I'm a MACster as well, I agree with your assessment. 6-4 to 10-0, anywhere is possible. MAC in general looks to be tough again next season. St Henry, DSJ, Coldwater, Versailles, ML...they will all be pretty tough again. I can't wait!

Not off the top of my head. I figured the MAC had one this year in Delphos St John's Matt Shumaker, but I guess I was wrong. I think he dropped on a lot of coaches' charts when he blew out his knee.

If he ends up at 1AA, he's gonna be all-world.

One kid who could be this year, IMO, is Nate Stahl of St Henry. They won the Div V State Title this past year, so many of you may have noticed him. He's 6'5 190 (needs to add weight), but is very athletic and has a rocket on his shoulder. Good touch too. He's being recruited for basketball, but I honestly think he could be a solid MAC QB.

Personally, I'm not a fan of all that Anna may join the MAC. That gives each team one more common opponent and a lesser chance for computer points. Anna is a program on the rise, but I think the ideal situation would be if Anna joined for football only and Fort Rock/Parkway left for football only. I know many of their fans wouldn't enjoy that, but it would be pretty sweet. If Anna does come in, many teams are going to have to finish at least 8-2 to get in playoffs, especially the Div IV & V schools (Coldwater, Versailles, St Henry, Delphos St Johns for example).

Homan is great sideline to sideline. He does a good job when the plays are in front of him and when they're to his side. Just for a reference, his last name is pronounced Hoe (just like the rappers say, or the garden tool) - 'min' (said quickly with little emphasis on the 'I').

Hoe-min

I have looked and looked, but I cannot seem to find Homan's junior stats. How high is he now in recorded tackles? At his earlier rate, one would assume well above 400, closing on 500.

Also whats the record for most career tackles in Ohio for HS athletes?? I gotta believe Spielman either owns it or is in the top 3.

I was over here a long while ago, but hadn't posted for over a year and couldn't remember what user name/password/email combo I used.

Good to be back though, I'm a big fan of BP.

MSJ -- Ross is between 550 & 600 career tackles, not sure what the record is, as the OHSAA does not keep an active list being that most coaches record tackles diferently and it is very subjective. The thing Ross has going for him is that he's started since he was a freshman and has never missed a game.

i hope he is a dominant buckeye, but his speed and level of competition are unanswered questions still.

i can't wait to see how he tests out this year at the camps and how he does in the playoffs against non-NW ohio teams.
anyone have any other 40 times or shuttle times for him besides the slow scout.com camp numbers?
