LB Mike Mitchell (transfer to Texas Tech, transfer to Southeastern FL)

Kat was the biggest, fastest, best LB in the BigTen as a freshman.....when that truly meant something

Mitchell may bebte same height, but he is at least 35 LB lighter

Big Kat started yes, but was made successful mainly because of his flanking O/S 'backers, Jerry Rudzinski, and Greg Bellasari. They covered what the Andy K missed, and allowed him to free lance. It worked!

Now, to bring it back to Mitchell, if he came in to tOSU next year, he has a chance to start, yes, and yes, he would have the O/S 'backers on each of his sides as well to help make him successful as well, just like the Big Kat did/was.

Mike is the LB equivalent of Joey Bosa on the defensive line. The two of them in the same front 7 would be unreal. With us needing a starting MLB pronto, I could see Mike having a Katzenmoyer-like freshman season for us.

Kat had one of the best seasons of all time for a freshman linebacker.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves here. If Mitchell is a star on special teams and earns some playing time on defense and contributes to some wins, that will be a very good season. (It's also much more likely.)

Mitchell is a great read and react player. Not sure if the instincts are there, but he plays with a powerful motor. Would be a nice addition to a depth-lacking LB corp. But let's hold off on the Big Kat comparisions.

That was my point too. I really hope we land Mitchell and are able to mold him. But I don't see him having the same early immediate impact. He could, but it's more realistic on the scout team or on special teams at first

If anything you just made a stronger comparison to Katzenmoyer than some of the more scarlet tinted memories. People tend to forget Andy's play as Soph & Jr.

Mike had a decent game last night: 8tkls
Last week he had 15tkls and a sack
The week before he had 19tkls and 2sacks and also returned a kickoff 100yds!

But, sorry to get off topic but his brother passed for 327yds and 4tds... in only playing the 1st half! Brother, mickey has some pretty sick stats. It's crazy that he's even better at basketball!!

He towers over everyone on the field. If he focused on football he could be a top recruit. But yeah, he's pretty sick at basketball.
