LB Joshua Perry (National Champion, BTN CFB Analyst)

This kid is one of the best athletes I've ever seen, blessed with a big body. Lots of room to add to that frame, which could make him an ELITE DE in my opinion. This is a great pick up. It's crazy, I joined this board right when I started college and it seems like yesterday. We're already talking about kids that won't even enroll until I'm long gone.

Ohio State football: Olentangy linebacker first 2012 recruit
Wednesday, June 30, 2010
By Tim May
THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

Olentangy High School junior Joshua Perry yesterday became the first commitment to Ohio State's 2012 football recruiting class. It was a case of serendipity as far as he was concerned.

"It didn't really matter to me," the linebacker said. "It's just something that happened that way."

Not that he was about to change his mind. After a strong showing in two days of Ohio State's summer camp last week, he was given an informal scholarship offer. Yesterday afternoon he and Olentangy coach Ed Terwilliger met with OSU coach Jim Tressel in Tressel's office.

That sealed the deal, said Perry, whose strong academic standing could have taken him almost anywhere. That explains why Duke was probably No.2 on his list.

"I came up with a list a while ago, probably back in January, and I have been narrowing down that list ever since, and OSU has always been at the top," Perry said. "So the opportunity presented itself (to commit early).

"So I thought today would be a good time to do it, after sitting down with him and having a good conversation. I like the way coach Tressel runs his program, and I just want to be part of it."

Josh Perry addition - Todd Charske

Keep the kid at LB with that type of athletic ability he's do damage there. Although the fact is we're stacked at LB. Good though because from the position smaller guys could go to strong safety and bigger guys to DE.

I imagine forces of nature (i.e.--does he get taller/bigger) will determine where he plays more than anything else. He is young and could grow a few inches.

Marysville 21, Olentangy 7 | ThisWeek Sports

The game started on a positive note for the Braves. On its second possession, Olentangy went on a 10-play, 98-yard drive capped by Joshua Perry's 20-yard touchdown run. Perry, an Ohio State recruit, missed most of the second half with an unspecified injury.

"I hate to use the word concussion, but he was a little lightheaded," Olentangy coach Ed Terwilliger said. "We kept him out as a precaution."

Film Study - October 5th, 2010

I got a pleasant surprise this week while looking at film. I had reservations about Josh Perry. He is a nice player. Any other year I could see him as an offer kid. The fact is next year is a special year in the state of Ohio. I think it could be a very important year in the the history of the program and in the Jim Tressel era. I don't know how many scholarships are available. I have heard as few as fifteen. I assume with attrition we will see twenty but we can't count on that. Getting it right means an influx of high level talent that could have a major impact on the program. After seeing the latest film of Perry, the staff definitely got this one right.
