Whiting in dispute with landlord, moves out
Ohio State reserve linebacker Jordan Whiting moved out of his apartment in December after a dispute with his landlord over a list of nine problems that weren?t resolved to his satisfaction, and the landlord took it to court seeking payment for the rest of the lease which runs to June.
According to an OSU athletic department spokeswoman, Whiting refused to pay his rent because of his dissatisfaction with the maintenance of his apartment, his list of complaints including a balky toilet that often would not flush. Whiting made his complaints in writing, but evidently he did not follow the usual procedure of putting his rent payment in escrow until the problems were fixed. He simply moved out, being taken in by a teammate.
Whiting, a sophomore from Louisville, Ky., was one of six Buckeyes sanctioned by the NCAA in December for their part in selling memorabilia and/or accepting discounts on tattoos from a local tattoo parlor owner back in 2009. But while the other five face five-game suspensions to start the 2011season, Whiting?s penalty will be for just one game. OSU is appealing all of the suspensions.

Most tenants don't know how to properly handle these types of disputes - mainly that the complaint needs to be in writing AND the rent needs to be paid into escrow until the dispute is resolved. This is seriously a big, "Who cares?"
What next? A player makes an illegal left turn from Lane onto High?

An OSU spokesperson confirms Jordan Whiting, who earlier tweeted he's transferring to Louisville, "is not a part of the team any longer."
