LB Etienne Sabino (official thread)

Sounds good to me. I wonder how many LB's we will take in this class.

2 if we were to pull Sabino off. Sweat is the only current recruit I see ending up at LB and then Beachum, Zordich, Rippy, Craig, etc. are off the board. Even if we get Hale, I see him moving to DE and Williams is almost a lock to play DE or Viper.

I know we made some ground with this kid. But I think this may be similar to Blake Ayles scenario-he was super impressed with tOSU but chose the homestate. I hope I am wrong. We might catch a break but it is defintely an uphill battle.

I hope he gets a good look at Lauranitis.

Well as he still may choose the homestate, he is originally from New York I believe, so this may be similar to the Mike Brewster situation in that he currently lives in florida but has not lived there his entire life and may not have as big an impact on his recruitment.

Not to mention that Miami has 4 LB's on board and still has their eye on Arthur Brown, who is quoted as saying they'll be in it 'til the end with him. Etienne hasn't mentioned a whole lot about FSU or UF, so I think out of state is a strong possibility. The stage is setting itself for this to be a national battle; UNC, OSU, ND, USC, GT, "The U"... 6 schools from 6 different states. Those are the schools that I think have the best chance to land him, but it is still early, and we should know how many horses are in this race by the time summer wraps up. Officials will play a large role in how this thing shakes out, IMO.

Agreed IC but I think ND has the leg up as of now. In any event, I don't think he stays instate. Either way I like the last update we had on him but I'm not getting my hopes up yet.

Major Miami Prospect Cutting List

By Matt Long
LB Etienne Sabino (6-3 230) has the unenviable task of choosing between 47 offers. The list includes schools national powerhouses such as Notre Dame, Ohio State, Florida, Miami, Tennessee, Southern Cal, LSU, and Auburn. Georgia Tech, Clemson, North Carolina, Georgia, NC State, and Duke are also among Sabino's numerous offers. "I'm working on making a top five," Sabino said, "I'll probably have it in two weeks or so...Southern Cal, North Carolina, and Ohio State, they're probably on my list right now, but I'm trying to decide the last two." It looks like Clemson might be out of the running, however, as Sabino said that he had not heard from them since summer began. He did not attend any camps, but did visit Notre Dame, Ohio State, Georgia Tech, Tennessee, UNC, Auburn, Georgia, NC State, and Duke. He hopes to be able to attend Southern Cal's opening game, but doesn't yet know about any other fall visits. He will graduate early, so he expects to commit "sometime in November."

Wow, I have considered him an ND lean for some time, he doesn't even consider them a shoe-in for his top 5. Maybe we have a better shot at this kid than I thought. And what is Butch Davis offering these kids?

With the uncertainty regarding Hale, our abundance of top quality LBs recently, and having just watched his film (he is much faster on the field than I thought)... I think he is a very important recruit right now.
