Can Ohio State continue to pull out of Krop?

Ohio State Head Coach Jim Tressel, Michael Brewster, and Company did a great job in 2008 of pulling two highly recruited players out of Miami Krop High School. The BrutusReport.com 2008 Football Recruiting Chart has Krop Cornerback Travis Howard and Middle Linebacker Etienne Sabino both rated as 4 star prospects. But does that necessarily mean that they will continue to get recruits from one of the hottest high schools in South Florida with the University of Miami (FL) staking their claim once again on the area? Read More ?

That is nice and all, but I had trouble reading on after he got the year of the OSU/Miami game wrong.

I don't know about that. Sabino should see a lot of playing time this season, possibly alongside JL in certain sets (remember, JL started out as a SAM before moving inside). If Sabino is as good as he appears to be, then he won't be a second-stringer for two years....

Maybe he starts out at SAM with Spitler at MIKE and Moeller at WILL.

Yeah I am not saying that he won't play, but I just think that Spitler will take over in the middle next year, and Sabino won't take over the middle full time until then...

I was thinking about this. Spitler looked good playing outside while JL was inside...my proposal for next year: Homan and Spitler outside, Sabino inside for 1st and 2nd downs. 3rd down you put in the nickel with Sabino and Homan out there, or put Moeller or Rolle in for Spitler. We have so much depth but I think Sabino is such a great player you can't keep him off the field. More specifically, I definetly see some room for improvement though which is great, seeing how he was already fairly dominant yesterday. As JT said, he makes some freshman mistakes sometimes but when it just comes down to making a play, Sabino's athleticism, size, and skill kick in and he doesn't look like a freshman anymore. We got a GREAT one in Etienne Sabino.

Spitler strikes me as a "blue collar" LB who works hard, knows his assignments and could play pretty much anywhere in the Big Ten. The starting lineups for OSU have been filled with kids like Spitler playing alonside the Katz and Spiels of the world.

But this depth chart doesn't leave a lot of room for "blue collar" kids.
