So does it look like Dorian will be staying at Ohio State? If so, how long would the suspension be?

leroyjenkins;1953561; said:I believe he's suspended for the whole season, for other (acedemic?) issues. Then I guess any NCAA suspension would kick in next season.

Not the Only One Moving On
Dorian Bell

The same goes for linebackers Dorian Bell and Jonathan Newsome. Both were rumored to be on their way out and now it is all but official that neither of them will be on the practice field for the Buckeyes this fall.
A former 5-star prospect out of Monroeville, Pa., Bell is already suspended for the entire 2011 season. He withdrew from classes this summer and is rumored to be back home in Pittsburgh contemplating his next move.

Gateway's Bell transfers to Duquesne
By Dave Mackall, PITTSBURGH TRIBUNE-REVIEW
Tuesday, August 23, 2011
Former Gateway High School football standout Dorian Bell, faced with a year-long suspension at Ohio State for an unspecified violation of team rules, has transferred to Duquesne.
Bell, a redshirt sophomore who played limited minutes at Ohio State, was a five-star recruit at Gateway and the third-ranked outside linebacker in the country by Rivals.com. He was the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review's 2008 player of the year.
"I'm so happy to be back in Pittsburgh. It's right around the corner from my house," Bell said. "I'm excited to be playing football at any level."
Duquesne competes in the Football Championship Subdivision of NCAA Division I and is predicted to finished second in the nine-team Northeast Conference. Players who transfer to FCS programs from Football Bowl Subdivision schools, such as Ohio State, are not required by the NCAA to sit out a year.
Bell attended classes on The Bluff for the first time Monday and was expected to join the Dukes this week. But it was not immediately clear if the 6-foot-1, 225-pound Bell would be available for the team's Sept. 3 opener at Bucknell.
Duquesne coach Jerry Schmitt did not return a message seeking comment.
Bell recorded 113 tackles, including 75 solos and 19 for losses, during his senior season at Gateway, and received multiple scholarship offers from BCS schools, including Pitt, Penn State and West Virginia. But the allure of being immediately eligible to play at the FCS level intrigued Bell.
"I'm not saying Ohio State was a bad choice," he said. "I just think it's time for a fresh start."
Dorian Bell Joins Duquesne Football Team
Ohio State transfer currently practicing with the Dukes
Aug. 27, 2011
PITTSBURGH - Duquesne University head football coach Jerry Schmitt announced today that Ohio State transfer Dorian Bell (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway), who enrolled in the University last week, has begun practicing with the team.
The 6-1, 225-pound linebacker's playing status is to be determined pending the outcome of the ongoing eligibility reinstatement process that Duquesne has initiated with the NCAA.
Bell is currently ineligible for violation of an NCAA regulation that occurred while he was a student-athlete at Ohio State.
"We look forward to having Dorian as a member of our football team," said Schmitt. "I know it means a lot for him to be able play college football in his hometown. He will continue to practice with the team and continue his assimilation in the classroom as we await the outcome of the reinstatement process."
Rated as a five-star recruit by rivals.com as a senior at nearby Gateway High School, Bell redshirted for OSU's 2009 Rose Bowl and Big Ten championship team. He had nine tackles in eight games as a back-up linebacker last season.
Bell totaled 113 tackles, including 19 tackles for loss and seven sacks, as a senior at Gateway in suburban Pittsburgh. He also rushed for 860 yards and 16 TDs. He participated in the U.S. Army All-American game as well as the Hawaii-US Mainland all-star game. Tabbed as the No. 33 overall recruit in the nation by rivals.com, Bell was also the third-ranked outside linebacker prospect in the U.S. by the same recruiting service.
"I am grateful to have this opportunity," said Bell. "Both my mother and aunt attended Duquesne, so I am very familiar with the school and its academic reputation. Coach Schmitt has made it clear what he expects from me both on and off the football field. I plan to work hard to help this team continue to improve."

PITTSBURGH -- To say things have changed in Dorian Bell's football career from 2010 to this year, would be an understatement.
This past season, as a linebacker at Ohio State, his home stadium seated 102,329. His Buckeyes were ranked, they were headed toward a Big Ten title and they had their sights set on a national championship.
This season, as a linebacker at Duquesne, his home stadium really is just a field, and it seats 2,200. His Dukes play in the Football Championship Subdivision, and at 4-1, with a 1-0 mark in the Northeast Conference, they are perhaps on their way to a banner season.
The contrast is remarkable, clearly. But to Bell, he'll take this Catholic school in the heart of his hometown any day.
