LB/DE Mark Johnson (official thread)

Scout $

10/27/05

From Scout.com...Johnson lists LSU, Ohio State, Cal, Florida and UCLA as his leaders. He is also interested in Washington State, Arizona State and Miami (FL). He has already visited LSU and will visit Cal on 12/10. He says he will visit OSU and Florida for sure. He has been named to the US Army All-American game.

He also claims to be fully qualified in that update.

I fear at some point the quality of the team will suffer because of the admissions. I realize OSU shouldn't sell out and just admit anyone to win, but there should be a difference between borderline and complete lost causes.

Also, couldn't we offer Gibson, Johnson, Cumberland now that oversigning is allowed? It seems if we would offer and only one of them make it would be better than not offering them at all and them ending up at one of our opponents.

You will be happy in a couple of years when OSU will have a full allotment of scholarships and other schools that take these questionable, borderline players that affect their APR [is that right?] and ultimately affect their total allowable scholarships. Imagine getting 2-3 less scholarships per year, thats 10-15% less players.

OSU admissions is already setting the standard for this and the others will take awhile of hardtimes to catch up.

Johnson talks about his recruitment. He will visit Cal on Dec. 9th. He visited LSU on Oct. 14th and said that the trip was good and that he could see himself playing there. Johnson says assuredly that he will visit tOSU, he just doesn't know when.

I think the fact that he continues to want and visit us is very telling. I think that if the coaches decide to bring him in on a visit they like what they see and hopefully that is not just football wise, hopefully they feel he is fully qualified.

Remember, wstripes said that we lead for Johnson. And that was after his LSU visit. stripes' info is usually top notch...
