LB Bobby Carpenter (All B1G, National Champion)

Carp and his fiancee were on the Cabo excursion with Romo and Jessica...plus Carp was at the NC game on Monday...he has been busy :tongue2:

"It's frustrating to hear him get criticized because I know what he puts into it," said Pro Bowl tight end Jason Witten, who along with his wife accompanied Romo, Dallas linebacker Bobby Carpenter and Carpenter's fiancee on a brief Mexican vacation with the blessing of first-year coach Wade Phillips. "He's catching a lot of heat he shouldn't be catching."
Romo Is Rested, But Is He Ready?

Exactly what does Romo put into it and how does Witten know? What has Bobby gotten himself mixed up in? :)

Trade rumors swirling about Carpenter, Spears

Tim MacMahon

Rumor has it that the Cowboys are shopping former first-round picks DE Marcus Spears and LB Bobby Carpenter at the Senior Bowl.

Carpenter simply isn't a fit in a 3-4 defense, which makes Bill Parcells' decision to pick him pretty puzzling. Carpenter couldn't get on the field in any of the Cowboys' defensive packages this season but was a solid special teams player. He wasn't considered a reach when the Cowboys drafted him 19th overall two years ago, so some 4-3 teams might be interested.

The Dallas Morning News | Dallas Cowboys/NFL news

Q. Do you see Bobby Carpenter being moved this off-season? Maybe back with Parcells and Ireland in Miami? Mark, Saginaw, MI

TAYLOR: I don?t think anyone would give you anything for Bobby Carpenter right now, certainly not Jeff Ireland. After all, he?s seen Carpenter play the last two years. He is now officially the worst first-round pick by the Cowboys since Danny Noonan in 1987. You can say what you want about Ebenezer Ekuban and David LaFleur, but they became starters. Carpenter isn?t even a key backup right now. The consensus is that he might be an effective player as an outside linebacker in the 4-3, where he could be protected by the defensive end. He?s not nearly physical enough to play inside linebacker in the 3-4.

And the Bill Parcells mind games continue.

Bill likes to play his games. Bobby gets drafted, and mentions that his Dad coached him on how to deal with Bill's mind games. Bill reads said interview, and decides that he has to kick it up a notch, if he's really going to break Carpenter and make him a "Parcells Guy". It's all part of the brainwashing.

I still think that Parcells is just playing mind games with Bobby. It's not that he can't play...that would make my assessment of him wrong.:tic::smash:

Booooooooooooo :ban:. I hope he gets onto a Buckeye Friendly franchise (Buffalo)
ps Tony Romo is the most overrated QB in the NFL LOL
:stupid:

There are only a handful of QB's I think I would trade Romo out for... one is in the superbowl, one was in it last year....other than that....not seeing it.

By the way - I think Dallas had more former Buckeyes than most teams(at least at one point not long ago).

still - carp is way overrated. When your 1st round pick can only shine on special teams - it is a bust no matter how you slice it.

I'd be shocked if they get anything better than a 5th rounder for him...and I'd trade him immediately if so.

Unfortunately - I think Terry Glenn's career might well be over with knee surgery.

A classic case of choosing a player that has no business in that scheme. Much like what will happen if Miami picks Glenn Dorsey this year to play NT in the 3-4.

I think you nailed it Sniper. Cowboys saw a hybrid DE/OLD and thought he'd be the perfect OLB in their scheme but unfortunately it hasn't worked out. I thought Dallas would be a good fit for him so I'm pretty surprised, but he was just too good at tOSU to not have any value outside of special teams in the NFL.

I think a 4-3 scheme will do him well, and he will become a solid player somewhere. I sure know the Benglas could use an OLB.
