LB Bobby Carpenter (All B1G, National Champion)

Sometimes it takes something like this for a guy to begin to play to his potential. Bobby has been thrown to the fire, I hope that he just goes out and plays.......doesn't worry about anything. If he does that he'll be successful.

Carp got the start in tonight's playoff game, and he just missed an interception. Nevertheless, he's had a good game so far (Al Michaels remarked in the first quarter that he has "been a force" so far in the game).

He's having a great game! I knew it was just a matter of time.

He's absolutely having the best game of really anyone on the Dallas defensive side of the ball...

First-round selection neither a surprise nor a threat to Carpenter
Star-Telegram
IRVING

Linebacker Bobby Carpenter, last year's first-round pick, could have been bothered by the Cowboys' direction with their top pick.

But Carpenter wasn't threatened or surprised the Cowboys drafted Purdue defensive end Anthony Spencer, who will move to outside linebacker, with the 26th pick in the first round. Carpenter was the 18th overall pick last year.

The Cowboys have drafted a linebacker with their first pick in three consecutive drafts.

"I don't think it surprised me at all, because we addressed a lot of our needs in the off-season via free agency," Carpenter said. "I think they have an idea of what they wanted to get, and they wanted to get some more pass rushers. We need strength in numbers."

Carpenter said he is unsure whether he will play inside or outside this season. He played both last season and made his biggest impact outside.

Fitting In
One Year Later, Carpenter Ready To Play Anywhere

IRVING, Texas - Bobby Carpenter remembers almost one year to the day sitting in front of his parents' TV in Lancaster, Ohio, flanked by friends and relatives as he watched the Cowboys' draft clock slowly tick away.

His relaxed draft-day demeanor quietly was teeming with nerves. The Cowboys still hadn't made their selection at No. 18, but his phone wasn't ringing, either.
