INVESTIGATION: SERIAL PLAINTIFF ALFREDO GARCIA DEPORTED TO MEXICO

Alfredo Garcia, a convicted felon and undocumented immigrant, has been deported to Mexico.

Garcia reportedly became notorious for filing lawsuits against local businesses in the Los Angeles area for alleged violations of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

He has sued more than 800 small businesses with attorney Morse Mehrban, reports ABC 7.

It has reportedly been nearly 18 years since Garcia held a job. According to Raw Story, he fell out of an avocado tree while intoxicated and under the influence of cocaine; his back was broken, his spinal cord severed. Since then he has made a living off the lawsuits.

It is estimated that Garcia has collected approximately $1.2 million since 2007.

Making matters worse, Garcia receives fee waivers from the courts by claiming he is too poor to pay the court fees required for the lawsuits.

The costs of the lawsuits have thus been paid by taxpayers. A total of $213,502.

"So, there's a huge fraud on the system when it comes to these serial litigants who are making tremendous amounts of money, but not paying the court system that they're using to collect this money,” said Link.

The lawsuits have mostly been against “small mom-and-pop type businesses,” but Garcia has also filed suits against huge corporations like Wal-Mart, Bank of America, and Jamba Juice.

This is what happens when you piss off every aspiring lawyer at once:http://www.dailydot.com/news/examsoft-bar-exam-2014-barghazi/

I must say that living through this was not a fun experience.

Did you just take the bar? I accidentally forgot to sign up for the software and had to hand-write...my hand was sore after but I suppose I didn't have to deal with this fiasco. Idaho's bar was going to extend the deadline so students didn't stay up super late trying to upload but I know Utah was going to stand by it. What a disaster.

OMG, I can't imagine writing the bar by hand. What a terrible experience...

Jailed fan suing NFL for $88 billion over Dez Bryant non-catch vs. Packers

Colorado man Terry Hendrix is suing the NFL, Rodger Goodell, Dean Blandino and Gene Steratore, alleging "negligence, breach of fiduciary duty and also wreckless (sic) disregard". The damages requested: $88,987,654,321.88, a tip of the cap to his case at hand, which centers on the overturned catch by Dez Bryant that arguably swung the Cowboys-Packers divisional round playoff game.

Hendrix's -- handwritten -- suit states the following:

"For the theft from and the loss of a Super Bowl, against and upon the hearts, minds, and souls of, but not limited to: Dez Bryant #88, the 2014/15 on-field offense of and to include all cheeerrrrleaders, fans of and all people in or from the sovereign republic of Texas, we the respondent(s) file this our notice of intent to file suit against and upon these respondent(s) captioned herein for the sum certain amount of money $88,987,654,321.88."

Hendrix's suit is handwritten because he is currently an inmate in the Colorado penal system. If the case is not immediately dismissed -- there is exactly a zero percent chance it is not immediately dismissed -- he might want to call Packers cornerback Sam Shields as a witness. Shields, who was covering Dez Bryant on the play, said on Thursday, “It was a catch. But the new rule and at the last minute what happened, that's what the refs came up with. I never said he didn't catch it. He made a helluva catch I was in great coverage. Like I said, it was good on good and he came up with the catch.”

Ohio University Pays $32,000 To Settle Student Lawsuit Over Free Speech

Ohio University has agreed to revise its student conduct code and pay $32,000 to a student and his attorneys to settle a lawsuit that challenged that code.

The lawsuit filed last summer on behalf of Isaac Smith alleged administrators violated constitutional free speech rights by telling students not to wear T-shirts bearing a sexually suggestive double entendre.

The university says educators suggested Smith consider whether the shirts were appropriate but never told students not to wear them or threatened discipline. A university statement says it supports students' right to free speech.

It says it agreed to pay Smith in exchange for him dismissing the case to avoid further expense for the university.

And what did the shirt look like?

Just saw on NBC Nightly News about some lady blaming Johnson and Johnson baby power on her ovarian cancer.

$55M verdict. Good grief.

Some attorney has been running ads saying call us if you used baby powder and developed ovarian cancer. Haven't looked up any information about it yet, but it's a head-scratcher how any element in talc is so invasive that it's assimilated by the body and able to trigger a malignancy. (Also has me looking askance at my jug of Shower To Shower--is it out to get me?)

I forget the law firm, but it advertised over the air on Columbus TV about a year ago, maybe still. They ask, "If you or a loved one died of. . ." I forget the problem, but, are they advertising to dead people? I loved that firm.
