CLEVELAND - Junior safety Latwan Anderson, one of the area's most highly-recruited football players, is no longer enrolled at St. Edward, his father confirmed today.
Lou Stephens, Anderson's father, would not elaborate on what led to the departure earlier this week, only saying that Anderson "didn't like it real well over there."
"It was my decision," Stephens said. "You have to do what you think is best. Latwan is still a minor. I don't have any problem with the school. I think the school is a great one. I would recommend it to anyone." Stephens said he thinks Anderson might decide which high school he will enroll at "in the next couple days." St. Edward principal Eugene Boyer would not comment on Anderson's status.
"We never comment on students," Boyer said of the private school in Lakewood. "They have a right to privacy."
Attempts to reach Anderson, who lives in Cleveland, were unsuccessful.
The 5-11, 185-pound Anderson is ranked as the nation's 66th-best player, and ninth-best defensive back, in the Class of 2010 by
