Need? To whom? Random internet poster outstading?
Who is our starting line up at safety? Who is our starting kick off returner and punt returner?

With your condensending post towards me you must be special and have this intimate knowledge, please.

Last I checked the back ups barely sniffed the field on D? Last I checked the positions hadn't been decided because we lost 2 long term starters. That doesn't provide a lot of comfort. You can throw out players name but in reality they are all untested, except Hines.

IMHO if there is no incumbent starter returning, and in fact we lost 2 in the same year, to me that's a need position.

If we have arguably the top athlete in the state that plays football, he has put up epic numbers, and could help fill any one of the three spots I mentioned previously, we have scholly's open, I think we should take him. As you mentioned I am just a random internets poster, just like you, so what does my or your opinion matter, right? Can you give me a good reason not to take him, other than the staff says so? Please don't say off the field problems without concrete info to back it up.

But your comments are always appreciated, as the staff would say, now back to LA please.

And bringing in a true-freshman safety helps this "situation" how? You really think a true freshman is going to come right in and start at safety? Getting Anderson likely won't help the immediate "need" at safety...he'd likely at best play on the kickoff coverage team and get some garbage time on defense.

What? Given the knowledge implied by your post, care to explain whose ego is too big on the staff's side? I personally know nothing about LA's motivation for his actions nor the staff's; but then again I haven't posted in this thread implying I do.
Sure what else could I be doing right now? My opinion is based off of a somewhat similar situation last year. A young CB from Maryland I believe, was a tOSU "lean" he committed to PSU. When he wanted to change his pledge to tOSU, the staff said no thanks.

Did his talent level change in that time he was at PSU? It is my opinion that it is a privilege to play for tOSU, and it was rumored that Tress felt he spurned us and broke a level of trust with the program. I feel this is a similar situation.

It's not academics, if it was we wouldn't have visited Moses and had Hendo amongst many of the other academic reaches we typically don't see in this number.

It's interesting you don't ask about LA, but only the staff.

Now please dissect my post, and provide a witty comeback, because answering questions and defending my opinion to Internet smart guys is the thrill of my day. But then again......

You are absolutely right as I feel I am as well. We both have very valid points.

That's the thing we don't know if he could come in a start as a frosh, it could go either way he could be a total bust, I don't know.

This is what I do know......

We have scholly's open

All I know is he is best DB prospect I have seen in Ohio in some time. He was often the best player on the field against the best comp, and he was game planned against to boot. Not to mention he dominated in the camps esp. in FLA.

There is not a safety on roster who put up those kinds of numbers in HS. In fact we have QB's playing safety, cb's etc. Wood is a true safety and he may be a very good one.....but we just don't know.

So why leave the scholly empty when we have exceptional player who could possibly fill it?

I suspect this is more a situation of Latwan Anderson needing to show the coaches that he wants to be a Buckeye than the coaches wondering whether he has the talent/grades/personality to fit in. A lot of people are wondering whether Tressel will go after Anderson, but the ball is actually in Anderson's court.

Too much man. Yeah he's a great player but if the staff takes a pass, I will more than understand.
You may be right, it depends on how you view the word "ego" in athletics and anything competitive your ego can be your driving force to be better or it can be your down fall or anything in between the two.

Ego doesn't have to be a dirty word. I also don't write my opinion to fit other poster belief sets of thought process's as don't know their motive's. SO you can take things how you see fit, your entitled to your opinion.

I believe if the staff and LA had a chance to start from scratch again, this recruitment may turned out differently.

Here's the definition of ego from Freud the originator of the concept ego.....
"Id, ego, and super-ego are the three parts of the psychic apparatus defined in Sigmund Freud's structural model of the psyche; they are the three theoretical constructs in terms of whose activity and interaction mental life is described. According to this model, the uncoordinated instinctual trends are the "id"; the organised realistic part of the psyche is the "ego," and the critical and moralising function the "super-ego."

The Ego acts according to the reality principle; i.e. it seeks to please the id?s drive in realistic ways that will benefit in the long term rather than bringing grief."

Because scholly's aren't given based on ability or potential alone?
Ok, since you answer my question with a question I will do the same.

So why not LA, but Moses, Hendo, Williams, Hyde etc?

Why is one worthy and one is not?

I appreciate you not being condescending with your post, it seems like emotions are running high with some.
