I wanted to like it, I really did. James McAvoy & Andrew Scott (Moriarty in Sherlock) are fantastic. Harry Potter is OK.

But

It's a lot like the Robert Downey Jr Sherlock Holmes movies. They're trying to make it more action oriented & steampunky. Oh and Igor has a girlfriend..and there's a zombie chimp...and....sigh.

So I warmed up for Green Room by watching Blue Ruin. Damn, that's how a revenge movie should be. Excellent acting, especially at the beginning. Cool appearances by (those who played) Buzz McCallister and Jan Brady. This was sort of a cross between Blood Simple and Winters Bone in some ways. Very, very good. 4/5

Went and saw Jungle Book last night and thought it was great. Probably the best live action remake out of Disney (haven't seen Cinderella yet), but there isn't exactly a high bar there. Will definitely be grabbing it when it hits BluRay. Now, if Thursday could just hurry itself up and get here already...

I'm biased for having girls, but Branagh's Cinderella is very good, and one of the most visually beautiful movies I've seen. Very faithful adaptation of the animated classic.
