Knew someone was going to ask this. :p

Remake - acting was good, it was beautiful, score was excellent. If the original is better (as I've heard), it will probably be a favorite of mine. I'll watch it very soon.

I like the original better, it does a much better job of portraying the details of Swedish culture that are so intertwined with the story.

They also fiddled with some details that were important for the later movies (and in the book version). Ultimately I think Fincher made a very good film, and Mara & Craig are fien actors but it's also a movie in which you can see the influence to pander towards American audiences (Character development is taking up too much time, we need more chase scenes!). More specific things, Fincher went to such extremes to isolate Lisbeth without really explaining why she is the way she is that she comes off as a borderline sociopath at the same time Blomkvist is reduced to an almost bumbling status, he never really figurs out anything on his own unless it's by sure luck.

The 'Swedishness' of it is a big deal to me. I felt the same way about Let The Right One In & Let Me In.

I had a long ass day....lotsa ins and outs to this week....lot of strands in ol' Duder's head. But it's over, and I've mixed myself a proper Michter's Sour Mash Old Fashioned and am settling into this classic.

I'm an advertising man, not a red herring. I've got a job, a secretary, a mother, two ex-wives and several bartenders dependent upon me.

Elysium

It was fun to watch. I liked it more than the rest of the group I was with. If you liked District 9, you'll probably like this. Can definitely tell the same crew made it. Had a very similar vibe. I did like District 9 quite a bit more, however.

I agree. Kind of hard to see how they're going to get Lisbeth to the character she becomes in the the next two installments...particularly "Hornet's Nest"...

I've only seen the Swedish film. (on good word from a friend)

I liked it. It is basically a western version of Pirates Of The Caribbean.

Hi-Yo, Silver! Away!

Two Guns... exactly the same as Denzel's last ebony&ivory buddy movie, Safe House, with Marky Mark instead of Ryan Reynolds laregly set in Mexico instead of South Africa.
I havent seen Safe House, but i can't imagine the banter between those two was any where close to what it was in Two Guns. I though that was the best part of the movie was Marky Mark and Denzel going back and forth

Agreed. I thought that Denzel turned the Denzel-volume down a little and Wahlberg did a good job of working with him. I thought the Vice Lieutenant / Battlestar Admiral did a nice job, too.
