Alternate ending to I Am Legend is so much better
Couldn't agree more.

Yeah, wasn't wild about the movie, but the roller coaster of emotions that the movie sends you on almost outweighs the lackluster ending.

I actually really like the movie, the first half is absolutely beautifully done. As mentioned the ending is blah and CGI for the baddies is crappy* but the beginning is strong enough that I can live with that. I just hate that they just used the name for brand recognition with no effort to honor the intent of the original story.

*BTW as a aside... ever notice that they move exactly like the robots in I, Robot? Hmmm...
I agree about the first part of the movie. I was loving it. Although the CGI I thought was surprisingly poor. I haven't read the book, but from my understanding the original ending is much more inline with the intent of the original story, no?

Watched Pastime tonight for some odd reason (I guess with the sleet outside I wanted to watch something about summer time). Anyway, I sort of remembered it from when I saw it when I was 11, but I had forgotten a lot of it....

Watched the original Red Dawn because a few friends had told me it was good and they wanted to see new one.

I won't take movie advice from them again. I've also heard the new one is worst than the old one. The corny and cliche acting make it look like it was written and directed by a 7th grade class make the original very tough to take serious. I give it 2/10 only because there are some unintended laughs throughout.

It's (the alt ending) much closer in intent....well except in the book the intelligent 'vampires' don't roar & bark.

Does a far better job of 'getting' Judge Dredd than the Stallone abortion of the 90's. Oddly it shares a basic premise with The Raid: Redemption (maybe the writers of both were fans of Enemy Territory back in the day?). Lena Headey does a great job as the former prostitute drug lord antagonist. Urban is good but I swear his frowns look like Jake Johnson hamming it up. All in all a solid flick. Don't let the kiddies watch if you don't want them to see the occasional extreme gore splatter.

"Beasts of the Southern Wild": I mean, it's hard for me to rank it, because I didn't get it. It was acted well, there was some parts where there was high emotion involved, the scenery and cinematography were good...but I didn't get the point of the movie at all, however.

I'd only seen these once, probably 10-12 years ago, but I borrowed the whole series (well, "Alien" through "Alien Resurrection") from a friend so I thought I'd sit down and watch again. Probably not much I can say that hasn't been said better somewhere else, but I really enjoy these two. I've never seen "Alien3" or "Resurrection" but I'm prepared to be disappointed when I get to those.

"Flight"

I don't know how I feel about this one. The first 3/4 of the movie is so heavy and then all of a sudden they try to inject humor in right at the end and I just didn't think it worked. Superb job by Denzel as always though.

Really enjoyed this in 3D. Wasn't spectacular by any means, but it kept me entertained throughout & was surprisingly decent for the low expectation I had beforehand considering above stated Stallone version.

Speaking of Stallone....

No idea why, but I guess I'm a sucker for movies from my more formative years.

Definitely a step down from the first two, which is no surprise given it's problematic production. I'm sure there's times when studio interference makes movies better and we just don't hear about it?

I'm gonna offer a half-assed spoiler alert here, even though the movie is 20+ years old and if you haven't seen it by now then I shouldn't really feel bad spoiling it for you. Anyway...I can't believe they killed off Newt, Bishop and Hicks off-camera. A complete waste of some great characters.

I wish we could see what Fincher would have done with it given creative freedom.

Easy A - Emma Stone was good as usual, the film was not with a few exceptions. The production of the movie was good (dialogue, etc), there just wasn't much under the surface (and not enough laughs to get away with being pointless).
