Was ok, pretty slow. I enjoyed it, but wouldn't say it was spectacular. Going to be a love hate experience for most people. 6/10

This one I really, really enjoyed. Good message, fascinating story, good performances. I'm really surprised it didn't get more attention/buzz when it came out. 8/10

Yeah, wasn't wild about the movie, but the roller coaster of emotions that the movie sends you on almost outweighs the lackluster ending.

Fuck I Am Legend for completely screwing up the entire premise of the book.

And Fuck I, Robot for having nothing to do with Asimov's work.

Fuck you Will Smith, stop screwing up my Sci-Fi!

I guess I should have *disclaimer* my previous post and said that I haven't read the book, so I wasn't expecting a whole hell of a lot when I picked it up.

I actually really like the movie, the first half is absolutely beautifully done. As mentioned the ending is blah and CGI for the baddies is crappy* but the beginning is strong enough that I can live with that. I just hate that they just used the name for brand recognition with no effort to honor the intent of the original story.

*BTW as a aside... ever notice that they move exactly like the robots in I, Robot? Hmmm...

I couldn't agree more about the first 45 minutes to an hour. I had literally no idea what was going to happen next with the way the story was being told. Really cool.

I guess I'm a sucker for really well done, limited dialogue movies. Granted, the dialogue picks up as the movie goes on, but the first 25 minutes, Will Smith says maybe 5 words. Bravo.

I'm a huge fan of post apocalyptic movies in general. There is something absolutely fascinating to me about what the world will look like after we (or modern society at least) is gone. I'm fascinated by the various web pages about exploring abandoned urban sites (Chernobyl is probably the holy grail in that regard) and love books like After Man & The World Without Us.

Have you seen The Hunter yet? If not, I think it will be right up your alley.

Interestingly it tells the exact same story (with the usual tweaking for film) as the book yet manages to feel completely different due to the medium. The book features a lot of internal dialog for the character where the movie has none while the cinematography of the film is beautiful while the book has very little description of the Tasmanian vistas.

A very nice side benefit.

I watched old Total Recall and then new Total Recall recently.

Old Total Recall was by far the better movie. Both have some terrible science, but the idea that opening a window to a vacuum causes infinite suction is one that really annoys me.

I give old a 4/5 and new a 3/5.
