Remarkable film. Extremely over the top, but very well done by Tarantino. There's a reason why Leonardo DiCaprio & Christoph Waltz are both nominated for the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor and it's because they were both suberb in this. Highly recommend going to see this if you haven't already done so, but if you don't like violence or language (Specifically the N word), then this definitely isn't for you.

Best Tarantino film I have seen yet! My buddy and I saw it and both said that was the most entertaining movie we'd seen in a long time. Samuel L Jackson's character was by far my favorite - dude's hilarious in it.

Has anyone seen that Silver Linings movie? How the freak did that get a Best Picture nomination???? Was it that good?

I thought the trailer looked pretty good, but never even thought about it as an Oscar type movie. Hell, I thought it was suppose to be a comedy.

I also noticed that Seth McFarland was up for an Oscar for best song from Ted. That falls in line with:

Oscar Award winner, Eminem......

Brave

Decent animated flick, repackaging a few different fairy tales. Animation quality was the only thing that lived up to Pixar's standards, who normally delivers true gems (an unblemished record before Ratatouille). Rotten Tomatoes has it right at 78%. Good flick just not worthy of the praise I've heard from people I know.

Men in Black III

Slow start (on the comedy front), but it recaptured some of its former greatness once Will jumped. Worthy rental. Then again, I really enjoyed the sequel unlike many, but I'm partial to any Will Smith or Tommy Lee Jones movie, let alone both.

The Avengers

Great summer blockbuster. Ironman, Ironman 2 & Thor are required viewing beforehand. Cap'n America is not (which was a mediocre flick kept alive by humor). Great action, good humor and much lighter than some of the superhero flicks lately. I still like Ironman (1) better but this was a great ride.

I think you've expressed this sentiment before (maybe it was someone else), but you're in the extreme minority on Ratatouille (96 on RT). Maybe it gets overlooked for being more respected than loved, but I'm a big Pixar fan and that's still one of their best IMO. Some really excellent visual set-pieces and some of the most underrated voice-work in their collection.

Speaking of animated flicks, I recently saw "How to Train Your Dragon" and was pretty impressed. Really didn't watch it closely enough to catch all the storyline details, but there were a few scenes that blew me away, especially when Hiccup first learns to fly Toothless (okay those names sound pretty dumb after the fact).

My kids got burnt out on Ratatouille because I wanted to watch it so much. I too thought it was great. For me, WallE is my least favorite Pixar movie. And I think I'm in the minority on that one.

"A Bug's Life" is so far down the list for me it's not even on the same page. I imagine Cars 2 is pretty bad too. Definitely some more interesting ones on the horizon...

Maybe I just hate the french :p

I realize most liked if not loved Ratatouille and unlike the popularity of Honey Boo Boo or Broke Girls, I have no beef with that.

If Ratatouille came out now instead of during the undefeated streak of greatness, it would probably change my impression of it. Perhaps I'll have to give it another shot some time. Judged against Toy Story 1&2, Monsters Inc, Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, Cars, Wall-E, Up, Toy Story 3 it pales in comparison. That's pretty rarified air though.

Either way, they've definitely slid quite a bit with Cars 2 & Brave.

I often forget about A Bug's Life, though it was early enough that they get away with it.
