I saw it at the drive-in back in the 80's when it came out. It still has flaws, but it really is a great concept that led to a bunch of movies like Alien, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, and of course The Thing (IIRC all of them are based on a short story called Who Goes There?). It's pretty much John Carpenter's masterpiece (some will say Halloween). It's actually really interesting to try and figure out when certain characters actually became the Thing, how, and of course the ending leads to endless debates. I rather enjoyed it. If you have never seen the movie it's one of the classic sci fi horror movies. If you are into that stuff you really need to see the movie, and then of course check out the endless debates about it on the internet.
