I just watched a movie I have not seen in about 20 years or so. The Thing. Got it on Blu Ray. The special effects are sort of funny at this point (they were considered state of the art at the time). It still has flaws, but it really is a great concept that led to a bunch of movies like Alien, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, and of course The Thing (IIRC all of them are based on a short story called Who Goes There?). It's pretty much John Carpenter's masterpiece (some will say Halloween). It's actually really interesting to try and figure out when certain characters actually became the Thing, how, and of course the ending leads to endless debates. I rather enjoyed it. If you have never seen the movie it's one of the classic sci fi horror movies. If you are into that stuff you really need to see the movie, and then of course check out the endless debates about it on the internet.

I saw it at the drive-in back in the 80's when it came out. The part where the dude says "you got to be fucking kidding me!" had the whole place busted out laughing.

prometheus. decent movie. no more. almost completely void of the lurking uneasiness of the first. only tense scene was the surgical operation. also, the set design was too aesthetically clean.

Saw it last night. Liked it quite a bit overall (CGI is excellent...very realistic) but as Buckguy said there was not a whole lot of suspense. There will definitely be a sequel (the ending all but guarantees it).

"Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close"- Honestly, I borderline hated it. I like Tom Hanks and his work, but he was barely in it and didn't seem to have his heart in the role. I love everything Max von Sydow does, but he never said a word and it felt forced. Sandra Bullock was about what you'd expect, and quite frankly if it had to do with anything but 9/11, I doubt a single soul would have cared about the story. Didn't like much of anything about it.

Fun bank caper film. From now on BUCKYLE's new name is Jelly.

If you want to see Tommy Lee Jones & Samuel L Jackson chew through dialogue written by Cormac McCarthy then this is your ticket.
It ain't happy but the two of them are amazing.

Looks like I'll finally be watching Lost in Translation tonight! Been looking forward to Netflix adding it to their instant stream.... 'Bout fucking time!

That film is so underrated to me.

One of Murray's best performances & ScarJo doesn't ruin the poignancy of it all like you might expect.
