It was pretty good. Not on par with Alien or Aliens, but certainly better than anything else involving the xenomorph aliens. I really liked it.

You could also watch this movie with no sound and just be happy with how good it looks.

Charlize Theron is hot as fuck, not that anyone didn't know that already. But holy shit.

That's a pretty good summation.

Regarding the visuals, in some ways it almost felt too slick. There was a bit of disconnect compared to the rest of the feel of the universe created by the other films. It wasn't groundbreaking like Alien or Aliens but it was very watchable and I don't regret dealing with the opening day crowds to see it.

After we got home we watched The Ghost and the Darkness, one of my all time favorites. Now THAT has some terrifying scenes.

Audition...a little slow, and somewhat dated, I'm sure it was more shocking back when it came out...but still a clever little shocker and easily Miike's best move I think...don't think it cracks the French Extremity quintet, but definitely worth a watch, despite being a little slow. The girl was hot and convincing, which made it an easier watch.

I finally saw The Avengers 6/10. Exactly what I expected. I was annoyed by the black widow. Annoying as crap to watch in the theater though, too many people thinking every one liner was the funniest thing they've ever heard. I would not go out of my way to watch it again, but it was solid entertainment for 2 hours.
