I also liked The Descendants.

Watched Titanic last night - with the last hour being very close to real time of the sinking exactly 100 years ago, which was between 1:30 and 2:30 am, 4-15-1912, using ship's time, which was GMT -3.

I haven't seen it in almost 15 years since the amount of hype it got was just ridiculous. It was a good movie, but the amount of attention it got was overbearing.

Just finished up The Pacific. Definitely not as emotionally involved with the characters in this as I was with BoB. But I thought the fight scenes were a lot more intense in The Pacific.

Worth the money to add to the collection.

If you get a chance, try & read With the Old Breed: at Peleliu and Okinawa by Eugene Sledge (the basis of most of the series). One of the best personal accounts of the Pacific War ever written. He spares no expense in it and it gives you great insight as to why he was so haunted by what transpired until the day he died.

Descendants.. not bad.. Clooney's best flick that's for sure
Really enjoyed 'The Descendants' as well. Side note, me and the wife were on our honeymoon in Kauai and saw them filming parts of this.

I've yet to see it to this day for that reason.

when they rolled the credits, I wrote the name of the book he wrote down so I could look into it.

I highly recommend taking a look at it. It's pretty graphic as you can tell by the series itself. It's the closest you'll ever get to knowing what it felt like (without actually being there, of course) for those Marines that served during that brutal conflict.

Just got on the reserve list at the library. Thanks for the recommendation.
