"The Hunger Games" Was a decent movie worth seeing on the big screen.
Lots of action. Politics "1984" Orwellian style. Not a lot of gore so most kids will be fine with it. No sex.

Saw a preview for "Abe Lincoln, Vampire Hunter", seriously?

Im fucking pumped for that movie...

it's based off a book btw

Safe House. Not bad, really. Denzel was less "Denzel" than usual and Ryan Reynolds was not quite as bad in a drama/action role as I thought he would be.

Did your eyes hurt after watching? I really felt like the director dropped the ball with his edgy close-ups, and obnoxious action scenes. Otherwise, it was a decent movie.

Agreed. Mrs. RugbyBuck was irritated that she didn't get to see enough shots of Cape Town because of the style of camera work.

I felt the same. What's the point of shooting a movie in a different location when the only time you see the landscape is when they would have their location shots where the camera would pan in. Just sloppy film work, IMO.

Watched the Hunger Games last weekend. Pretty good overall. Popcorn flick, took itself seriously enough to make a teenager novel into a watchable film.

It's not great cinema, and it's not going to change your life, but it's entertaining.

I'm gonna be that guy and argue that The Hunger Games (the print series) is in no way aimed at teenagers. With the Twilight success there was unfortunately no choice but to aim the movie at a teenage demographic. They trimmed out the complexities of the novels and dialed up the romance to suit an audience expecting to swoon over male leads and empathize with the female protagonist.

In all fairness, these books could've (and should've) been made into the dark, deep social commentary Suzanne Collins intended. Imagine the story you saw play out in the movie directed by Fincher and given an R rating. That's the movie I wanted to see. All in all, I will say it was well done for what it was and you can't blame the studio for cashing in on the money wave that is teenage girls. I just wish they had gone the other way.

the Town - 4/10

I'd like to hear a justification for a 4/10! I ,personally, thought The Town was very well done.

Felt like I had seen it... in a hundred other movies about very similar plots.. basically knew the ending very early in the movie.. felt Affleck was too far out of character..

in direct contrast.. just watched The Confession...
Had no idea where it was going... had not seen similar plots... didn't know the ending... and Sutherland NAILED it.. perfect casting
