Spike can be an excellent filmmaker-Jungle Fever, Bamboozled,Summer of Sam-but he needs to expand his range-hatred of Italians, and a love of jazz and Aaron Copland get old as constant thematic elements.BUCKYLE;1402767; said:[censored] Spike Lee.
That reminds me, I need to watch Do the Right Thing again soon.

Trite, shallow crap that is normally the preserve of Segal. Count the actors in a room before Liam enters the scene, add to a running total of the dead as they'll all be offed by him at end of scene.
This math works no matter whether he faces 2, 5, or 8 villains.

Pierrepoint: The Last Hangman The true story of Albert Pierrepoint, a state executioner for Great Britain, who gained notoriety after carrying out the hangings of Nazi war criminals. Well written script explores the questions of the greater theme (morality of the death penalty), as well as the main character's personal issues (the desire of ambition, and the consequences when it is realized). Solid cast.
The Fall Visually stunning fantsy directed by Tarsem Singh (The Cell). Lee Pace (Pushing Daisies) plays a hospitalized 1920's movie stuntman who befriends a young girl by telling her an epic story of a mythical struggle between good and evil. Very reminiscent of Pan's Labyrinth or Terry Gilliam's films. The colorful visuals are the certerpiece, but the script evolves nicely, and the chemistry between the main characers really makes the movie.

Snatch and LSn2SB had amazingly funny good guys (preferably with hilarious sidekicks) and some sick bad guys (brick top, and that porn shop guy). They were both live with hilarious characters (micky and bullet tooth tony and that guy with the son). And the stories were over-the-top ironic, which is charming and funny in its unique way.
RockNRolla was in the exact same mold... except everything was turned down about 3 notches. It was distinctly a Guy movie, in that it had the main group of protagonists, a bad guy who owes another bad guy stuff. But the characters just weren't funny, and the narration wasn't funny either.
It was so strange - during the movie, I was wondering when they were going to start speaking super fast, or having hilarious still-frames. Nope... And the characters were absolutely drawl. It was a displeasure to watch.
And also, Tom Wilkinson had a weak performance this time around.
There were a few chuckle moments - but clearly not on the same level as Snatch and Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.
I mean, everyone can remember the best scenes from both of those movies (SPOILERS: Micky's last fight, the poker game) very clearly. That's because they were awesome scenes. In my opinion, not any scenes like that from RockNRolla.
I'm sure Guy will make a better movie in the future - every director has a dud.
But I'd like to hear what someone who enjoyed the movie has to say.
