I do think it will be harder to get the disenfranchised fans from the "other lesser programs" to adopt another college team to root for ....

Yeah me too. Then I think about it and I watch post season pro sports with zero rooting interest so who knows?

When I was growing up we never saw other conferences till New Years Day. Even the Rose Bowl was an afterthought. Beat scUM. Win Big 10 big 2 and the little eight.Now it’s insanity times 2. Portal NIL expanded conferences 12 team playoff. I still watch and root for the buckeyes .. but it’s weird.

I think your real problem is that alabama and ohio state fans arent going to accept that going 9-6 is a good year. We rely on playing those cupcakes for attendance and our egos. if you take that away it really does just become a minor league.. and it wouldnt happen all at once.. but over time.. it slowly becomes just like any other minor league.
