I like how it's the NFL, then the entire SEC (top to bottom) and a few Big teams. Fuck off Lane. The SEC has it's top heavy teams and a bunch of mediocrity (especially this year). Noboby cares .... Work Harder.

I think the SEC and Big Ten have really separated themselves from the rest of the pack. But I don't see any real separation between the two.
each conference has 2-3 teams realistically in the mix for a Natty every single
each conference has another group of 3 or so teams that can realistically win one if the cards fall right.
then they each have a group of teams capable of upsetting somebody in the top, but not a threat to win anything of note.
and the bottom.

maybe in any given year one conference may have a team or two more than the other in any given category, but for the most part the above is what happens.

swap any team from one conference into the other and they likely finish really close to the same spot in the standings of the other conference.

if Lane wants to argue that 1-7 Kentucky would beat 1-8 Maryland, ok whatever. They very well may be better.
but if Lane is arguing that 1-7 Kentucky is a good football team that would finish in the top part of any other Power 4 conference, then he's smoking crack.
sorry Lane, you lost to a team that finished 1 and fucking 7 in the league.
when Indiana played against their 1-8 opponent, they won by 2 TD's (and had a 3 TD lead with less than 3 minutes to go).

if Saban or any other apologists want to argue that 6-6 Vandy is a better team than 6-6 Nebraska. OK, I could maybe buy that too. But it would be probably pretty close.
sorry Nick but Alabama lost to a pair of .500
When Indiana played 6-6 Nebraska they beat them 56 to fucking 7.

oh wait, they saying SMU shouldn't have gotten in.
fine, SMU beat 1-7 FSU by 26, they didn't lose that "hard" game.
when they played 6-6 teams like Cal, they won 38-6.

they didn't just win those games.
they kicked the shit out of the bad teams on their schedule.

all Alabama or Ole Miss had to do was win against the bottom of the fucking conference. they could have won ugly as shit and would have gotten in over SMU and likely Indiana.

I mean Jesus Christ, I could at least stomach it if this was South Carolina doing all of the bitching. At least all 3 of their losses were to teams in top 6 of the league. and 2 of those were by a FG or less.
and every team they played that finished below them in conference they beat by at least 21.

Bitch, come play in the cold, with snow and freezing wind, with those rainy November days. All we've ever heard is that those conditions make no difference.
I've literally never ever heard anyone at any level say that the cold and possibly inclement weather doesn't have a huge impact on a game (and typically a huge benefit to the team accustomed to it).

The weather argument I've heard is that pleasant weather really doesn't give either team a benefit over the other.

Now, we hear about how hard it will be for southern teams to play in the cold because the kids have never been there. While I abolutely expect Ryan Day to soil himself against Tennessee just because Ryan Day, I'm going to enjoy watching all those games.
I'm hoping for 3 blizzards.
I have no dog in the hunt, I'm just wanting the entertainment of a shitstorm during a game.

Take the SEC and B1G together you are at what 34 teams? Find 6 to cut out. now you are at 28.

Add ND, Clemson, Miami and FSU from the ACC and you now have a 32 team, NFL style football league that can be broken into 8 divisions of 4 each. Apply and NFL rotation schedule to it and there you go.

I'm not talking about schools, I'm not talking about Olympic sports, I am talking about a football only league for professional football teams using school names.

For the 6 to lose I'd throw out names of teams that just don't seem to want to compete at the highest level (facilities, NIL)
Rutgers
Maryland
Mississippi State
Vandy
Illinois
Maybe NW but they just dropped a bag for other worldly facilities
??? SEC guys can float another name or two here

Again, don't think "the B1G would never allow it" think football program promotion only.

I don't think I am missing any name schools this way. It creates your Alpha league below the NFL. Others that remain will find their way to various other alignments befitting their status.

I don't think the SEC would go for it either.
too many of those schools are dependent upon the football money.

also I can think of a few more "deserving" football teams than some of the ones staying in.
for example (just off top of my head), I think Virginia Tech is more worthy of inclusion in this than Kentucky would be.

The teams that were in it would make money to throw back at the conference to give to any school that didn't make it (if they wanted to)

The conferences and schools will be, in my mind, licensing names and making money off stadium deals to these pro football teams. Its actually a net win for the Universities because they can free up resources and focus their efforts on their core mission.

I disagree. I don't think anyone will care if you delete all of the schools outside the 32 you mentioned. I believe it will end up broke and on the Peacock App...well, shit. Maybe it is already happening.
You think someone isn’t going to watch UT and Ohio State play a first round playoff game because Maryland isn’t in the Alpha league?

No, I think people won't watch because the facade of student-athletes will 100% be gone and people in Kansas, Colorado, Wyoming, Maryland, etc. won't care about Bama v USC when they never had a team in the fight to begin with. Do you think a lighter version of the NFL will succeed because it is on Saturdays?

I don’t think the big CFB fan bases will ever go away because of professionalization. That alone makes a super league have enough emit an audience to be very lucrative. Just spitballing, no data.
