Lane Kiffin isn't the voice of reason, he's just a butthurt HC in a podunk town. Before NIL, those small college towns could have the local ambulance chaser, dentist, store owner, etc give players money under the table to come play in Oxford, MS, Starkville, MS, Little Rock AR, etc. Now with NIL, and everything being above the table, recruits have little incentive to go those towns, and those local businessman don't want their public name out in the open for paying an NIL for a player. And they are having a hard time keeping up with bigger cities who also have as much if not more money to offer in NIL. And not only that, but just because you provide a kid NIL money, doesn't guarantee that he'll stay at that school either.
So you don't agree with his comments?

I agree as much as CFB has given coaches the freedom to leave as they please. That changed CFB just as much. A kid commits to a coach and his scheme, then that coach leaves for his "dream school" or a bigger pay check snd the kid is left at a school he may not have attended if not for the coach and/or the scheme. NIL is just more of an excuse for Kiffin to no longer be able to utilize the backwoods bag men of Mississippi. Kiffin set back Tennessee by his departure more than NIL

I wasn't saying that they were like a Kirby/Muschamp level of defense, but they played well enough to shut down Aggy and the Pirate pretty effectively. Yes, I know neither of those are powerhouse offenses, but the Ole Miss defense was absolutely awful and improved enough to not be a complete embarrassment and even somewhat serviceable the last few games.

serviceable?
um. ok.
