The guy that traded DeAndre Hopkins for a He-Man pez dispenser and a pack of Big League Chew? What could go wrong?
To the guy’s credit, he did seem to have a substantial amount of disdain for the cult that is a large portion the Penn State fanbase while he was there.what flavor Big League Chew?
if Ed fucking Orgeron can win a title here surely Braxton O’Balllicker can too.
Yeah, he earned a little bit of respect from me with the way slammed the "Paterno People" on his way out the door at PSU.To the guy’s credit, he did seem to have a substantial amount of disdain for the cult that is a large portion the Penn State fanbase while he was there.
I imagine he’d have a similar reaction to some of the more colorful elements of LSU fandom; I’ll leave it up to you to decide if that would be a benefit or detriment to his (potential) time there.
LSU already ain’t replacing one immature dipshit with another immature dipshit.
He's been the smartest person to pass through Joestown since the Cult was exposed. Two years and got the fuck out first chance he got before the Joebots slipped on the ball gag.Yeah, he earned a little bit of respect from me with the way slammed the "Paterno People" on his way out the door at PSU.
Will the Lane Train's next stop be Baton Rouge A & M?
i already answered that one.
will not eve get a phone call.
"Lane Kiffin was never offered"- Scott Woodard
that’s a guarantee
All shit-posting/shit-talk aside, I think he'd actually do well there. Seriously.
People say that Ole Miss is all Corral this year, I disagree.
That OL and Connor/Ealy has produced a strong run game, as Corral has been plagued with injuries an not carried the team as much as the perception has been.
And their defense has steadily improved over the year. Durkin has done a fine job and their D is pretty disciplined, especially for an Ole Miss Team.
Kiffin is a good coach, antics aside, the question is if he can consistently produce good seasons. He's clearly capable of doing a good coaching job though, albeit if only for one or two seasons consecutively.
defense climbed all the way up to 102 nationally.
32 spots behind OU, the poster child for not even trying to play D.
Lane Kiffin's first press conference of the bowl season takes turn toward transfer portal
ByDAVID JOHNSON Dec 13, 2:30 PM
The 8th-ranked Ole Miss Rebels hit the practice field under sunny skies and warm temperatures on Monday to begin preparation for their battle with the Baylor Bears on New Year's night. Ole Miss (10-2, 6-2 SEC) and Baylor (11-2, 7-2 Big 12) clash in the Allstate Sugar Bowl in New Orleans.
The entire practice was open to the media. The Rebels looked refreshed and rejuvenated after more than a two-week layoff following a 31-21 victory over Mississippi State on Thanksgiving night.
"It was really good to be back out there," said Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin. "The players were excited. I think...kind of like we said a lot throughout the year...we have a really special team, cool players that love practicing, love being around each other. It was pretty good, after recruiting and after this break, all the stuff going on, to be back out there was awesome today."
There appear to be no players opting out for the Rebels' bowl game. Everyone expected to be in uniform for practice was there.
The press conference took a hard turn toward the NCAA transfer portal, a subject in which Kiffin was more than willing to discuss.
The transfer portal has changed they way college football programs must recruit. The current cycle is really providing coaches with their first full dose of the portal and the challenges of melding what basically amounts to free agency into their recruiting classes. Ole Miss has had transfer portal players in for official visits in each of the last two weekends.
"I don't think people really say it this way, but let's not make a mistake, we have free agency in college football," Kiffin said. "And the kids go to where they're going to pay the most. No one else is saying that maybe, but if the kid says, 'This is what I'm getting here for NIL.' It is what it is. Free agency has been created in college football...except you can't lock people into a contract. They can go at any time. It's a new world that we're in. Sometimes they want to come to you and say, 'I get this much money if I go there.' This is just a whole new thing to deal with."
With "free agency" now thrown into the mix, what might be the unintended consequences?
"(The NCAA) did give relief this year with the extra ones. And getting out on the road, there is a lot of frustration with junior college coaches and high school coaches, because they feel like kids that were right on the verge of getting offers and going places that were at the bottom of the class, just now aren't. Because people aren't...they're using them up on transfers. So now they've got high school kids with nowhere to go where they would have had places. Like anything, usually when you create something to solve this issue over here it creates other issues. There's a lot of issues with it. You've got your own guys, and now you're dealing with guys...they want to go...but you still want them to play in the game or practice and stuff. Now 2we really have guys in the free agency market going around to visits that are still practicing and playing here," Kiffin shared.
Kiffin said one player on the Ole Miss roster missed practice on Monday while taking an official visit to another program. He did not identify the player.
"At least when you have free-agent contracts, they know what it is and they've got to sign it...When you come here you're going to get this much money and when they get there they really get it in their contract. So, a very new world," Kiffin continued.
How competitive can Ole Miss be in regards to the NIL arena?
"You can just talk about what people have gotten, but we can't direct that. And we're not going to sit here and make promises that you're going to come here and get that much money, because once you're signed and they're locked in to go there, but they're not getting the money. We're kind of staying out of that world that other people are going into," Kiffin said.
Does the transfer portal diminish signing day and stretch the recruiting cycle into the spring and beyond?
"I think it totally does," Kiffin said, "because there's no transfer signing day. They don't sing an NIL again, because they've already signed one. There's not really a system in place there to say, 'Hey, OK, here, they're going to all sign Wednesday.' They're still going in, they're going to keep going in and I'm sure they're going to go in after their bowl games. I mean every day someone new goes in. I don't think signing day will be as big as it used to be.
"That's basically your draft class, but then you're going to have your free-agent class. It's just going to be really different, and there's not going to be a date to know your free agents. Free agency doesn't end. Our starting center showed up in August or whatever it was. New deal."
Wow. Lane Kiffen the voice of reason. Who’d have thunk it?Some interesting thoughts from Lane on the Portal:

*I've bolded the parts of the article in the quoted section that I thought were interesting. Fuck Ole Miss and their bowl game.
