I don't think anything is sealed when it comes to recruiting. He's also visited OSU quite a few times, and let's not act like the coaches don't talk him constantly as well. I wouldn't be surprised if he picked UK, but let's not act like its set in stone because the coach is able to visit him a lot and he can visit UK due to distance.

I agree it's not over. My concern is he's headed back to UK this weekend again and he's tweeting catch phrases from their radio show, that the show is pushing to be used during the game.

Still no reason to be concerned. Hes showing hometown love, and that should be expected. I wouldn't expect him to tweet Columbus radio stations. I do believe that for example, Johnnie Dixon visited Miami many times, and some saw him as a Hurricane in the end. Hes the first example I can think of but I'm sure there's more. This battle will go to NSD and will continually be a roller coaster.

Buckeye's will be the team to beat the next 2 to 3 seasons.. Mark Stoops will not be a UK during that time.

The only thing is, Damien would be committing to UK more than he would to Stoops, imo. Harris and his family really like the distance factor it seems, and want him close to home, which is understandable. I don't think Stoops being there or not will matter to Harris if his parents got to see him play and don't have to travel far. But then again, its not like columbus is in California or Texas

If UK was stinking up the joint, Damien wouldn't pay them
any attention. As evidenced by them not even being in the top 3 when he decided last winter. They weren't showing promise. Stoops has done a great job using proximity as a tool, but not many other coaches could have Kentucky in the running for the #1 player at his position. Regardless of where he's from.

So youre basing this on what he viewed UK as last year? Don't kid yourself and think that UK is all of the sudden NC caliber because their best win is beating an overrated South Carolina team who's claim to fame is a dimwitted quote worthy coach. Uk went from terrible to below average this season. Beating Tennessee Martin, Vandy and losing to an overrated Florida isn't cause for celebration. if they win even 2 of their last 4 conference games then wake me up. And yes, a number of coaches with recruiting common sense can have a player rated as high as Harris considering them, if the school is basically around the corner from his house. Example: Gunner Kiel committing to Indiana, thkugh he didnt end up there he still heavily considered them due to proximity. Its not a new thing, kids want to play near home and their families want them to play near home. I'm not saying it always happens, but it doesnt take much besides having a competent to sell proximity and a kid will have them high on his list.

I never said they were "NC caliber," stop putting words in my mouth. It's about progress. At this time last year, they were 1-4. Now they're 4-1. He's even said as much, if they weren't showing progress, he wouldn't be interested. He wants to compete and Kentucky is showing him the right things that make him think they're on that track. Going from 2-10 and losing all conference games to already having 2 conference wins and being competitive in every game goes a long way.

Yes it does. But he's always considered them regardless of record. And distance has been a big factor, they have improved from last year, but they couldnt get any worse. Myn point is that regardless if Stoops is there or not, he's still considering UK. And almost any decent coach with a recruit this good would throw everything at him and be seriously considered. And a number of past recruits have shown that.
And I previously stated he's made them improved, from terrible to below average. The last 4 games are against SEC teams that are actually good. We'll see how much more improved they are. Vandy and UK are the SEC whipping boys every year so not sure that beating them actually means much. Beating Carolina said a little.

Berea is just south of Lexington, and about 30 miles from UK, so his parents would be no more than an hour away, vice about four hours from Columbus.

No, he hasn't always considered them. Search any Kentucky recruiting site and you'll see endless quotes about it. Even in the beginning of this very thread his top two was always OSU & Mich, there was NO mention of UK. He visited for their JR day, he and Stoops hit it off from there. Stoops is doing a phenomenal job here. He's shown him the things he's needed to see to consider them and the whole state is basically recruiting him.

True he hasn't always considered UK. But more than Stoops is luring him to the school. Hes fine with small improvements, and doesn't care as much about wins and losses or major traditions, and wants to play close to home. All things going against OSU. The biggest factor that OSU has, is that Urban Meyer has a knack for talking to and understanding kids. And relationships he's built with OSU recruits and current players.

I don't know squat. That being said, I'de pitch to the kid this. You will get hit in the backfield less at Ohio State with our generally superior teams to that of the rest of the Big Ten. Conversely, at UK you will have a lower quality O-Line against better D's in the SEC and as a result RBs will take more hits. This translates into less mileage left in the tank for any potential run at an NFL career. No pun intended.
