Ok, but it certainly didn't feel that way. Missing 30% of your FTs is 30% too many to miss in a game like this. We didn't capitalize on the technical, either.
yes, mike, it would have been nice had the buckeyes gone 19/22 instead of 16/22. the point remains that we shot just over the season average from the stripe. more importantly, on the list of reasons why the buckeyes lost, free throw shooting is no higher than fifth. i know that because if osu shoots an outstanding 19/22 (86%), the team wins by just a single point. if we make our easy lay-ups or if buford has just a mediocre game, we win by at least 6.

I stopped even checking after the SE region went all rapey on me.

I don't wanna hear it... Look what I have to look at. LINK

Perfect in the first round of the East, the rest... Well, no comment. :slappy:

Oh and as for the MSU pick, don't judge... I thought Izzo had some more Final Four magic up his sleeve (Elite 8 at least!). :shake:

When Diebs is missing free throws, you know you're sunk. My confidence wilted when he missed that first one off the technical. Here's another bunny. :(

I still don't understand why Matta didn't call a time out and try and run a set play. At least rush the ball up past mid court and call a time out. Should have ended a lot better than that.

clutch jumper by Knight in the end though. Great defense on him with a hand in his face and was still able to knock it down.

A game of inches!

A lot of things have to go right to win a close game like this one was. Officiating, fouls, shots dropping, and guys hitting near their normal shots. Craft was 0-5, Buford 2 for 16. We were not going to win this game without those 2 producing something. Its so funny how your BB world can change,,,,Bufords last shot goes 6 inches to the left, we win, everybody is happy and out of their funk. TV talking heads praise the Buckeyes for the win and we move on. I guess that is why it is a game of inches!

Mike, Matta doesn't really believe in timeouts much of the time  it is too bad because he has really drawn up some great set plays with the versatility of this unit.

Smoov/Gator, thanks. I get the feeling the sec kinship doesn't extend to bball, UK, calipari or some combination of them. :p

Great season. Their d was suffocating and Buford was missing wide open shots and layups that he hits in his sleep.

The media will talk about Sullinger and Liggins, but craft was arguably the best player on the floor, particularly with how he often played in spite of his teammates struggles.

Thanks for a great season seniors and a program establishing career, particularly Mr. Lighty, who was a loyal buckeye long before the wins came and the storm clouds cleared, shut down lottery pick Green as a frosh and anchored a half decade of greatness.

There were only 5 seconds left and they got a clean inbounds pass to the point guard moving forward, and Kentucky's defense wasn't set. Buford got a decent look, but it wasn't his night and it just didn't go in.

If they call timeout, Ky either bothers the inbounds pass or doubles Craft. I think it's probable that tOSU wouldn't have gotten as good a shot as they did.

Hindsight is 20-20. Because Knight hit his shot with Craft's hand in his face, nobody is questioning why Calipari didn't call a timeout in the last 21 seconds. If he had missed, and tOSU had won the game, how many people would be saying that Calipari should have called a timeout?

I know I'm in the giant minority, but I care more about Buckeye hoops than I do about Buckeye football so this loss hurt like a censored censored. Kentucky played the perfect game to beat tOSU and you have to give credit to Knight for hitting a ridiculous shot. When one of your better players shoots 2-16 and you shoot 33% from the field, you simply are not going to win. I, like all rational people, despise Kentucky so it is beyond awful that they had to win.

I'm looking forward to strong basketball teams in the future thanks to Thad. I will be stunned if Sullinger does not come back. To win the tournament, you need a bit of a luck, ball bounces your way, and you need a favorable bracket. Unfortunately, tOSU didn't get either of them. My bracket is in shambles so go VCU, Butler, and anybody playing Kentucky, North Carolina, and Kansas.
