Actually yeah. It's just a lot easier to recognize when a comedian is performing horribly compared to almost every other profession.

Heckling is something that has been around for as long as there has been comedy. All comedians know they're going to be heckled regardless of how well they do. The good ones just know how to handle it well. Obviously Michael Schott...er, Richards doesn't.

Agreed...a Good comedian can take a heckler and turn it right back on the heckler and make the person look and feel like a real idiot.

Ricards just lost his mind and started screaming which is nothing to do with comedy.

I was at the Gotham Comedy Club recently and not only did I see the best act I've every seen, I was most impressed by the comedian's destruction of two different annoying hecklers. I forget what exactly he said, though I do remember that the first guy was a tourist with a moustache, which was part of his kiss of death. . .

The good ones, like everyone has said, learn to deal with it. Whether they have canned attack lines ready or whether they are great off the cuff, they arm themselves for these guys.

Just to set the seen of the Richards affair a bit more, I read that the hecklers called him a "cracka-ass-cracker" or something before he went off. This doesn't justify his actions, but it may give some insight as to what one of the firestarters was with him. I guess we'd have to check the tape to see what all they said or didn't say. Perhaps he was super close to cracking in a racist fit and they said the one thing that put him over into psycho land. . .

personally i think the bullshit apologies mean nothing. i would have had more respect for him as a man if he would have stood by what he said - same with Mel Gibson.

How long before Richards checks into a "rehab" and says that his rant was simply because he has issues.... fucking pussy

Were you at the show? No one deserves to be heckled. But seeing how "heckling" is all you do here, I can see how you would defend it.

Am I the only that can't help but think of the heckler epidsode from Seinfeld? :slappy:

Where Jerry goes to his heckler's work and heckles them at their desk?

:slappy:

Give me a break. There are lots of comedians who deserve to be heckled b/c their acts are horrible. I've been to more than a few shows when the hecklers were far more amusing than the loser on stage. I'm not a heckler myself, but I have no problem with those who make fun of crappy comedians.

I would love to heckle Andrew Dice Clay. "OHHHHHHHHHHHH!"

He was on Letterman last night and made references to the way "blacks felt after Hurricane Katrina" and "the war in Iraq".

Geez, I'm a politico and all but man up and quit blaming someone else for your fuckups. You made your bed.....now sleep in it.
