Ohio State, comparatively, can handle the opt outs and a possible 21 day pause on players (at least in conference). Not sure others can. Bucks have a very clear shot to get where they want...if the team and season stay healthy.

Rondale isn't even playing to win his division, if i were him I'd sign with an agent and start training for the combine. Parsons and Ped st has a chance at playing for 2nd in the B1G east so id probably stay out and train and sign with an agent too. Wade and Davis is where it gets tricky, because they can absolutely hoist an NC trophy at seasons end. If both came back truly for NCs, and they were going to play anyway before Covid. They may as well opt back in and get some sweet sweet revenge on Reverend Dabo, Sunshine and the rest of Clemson

Still have no idea how he took such a hard L on this. It was an easy W if he just did 2 things. Start out by saying that that the reason they were suspending operations b/c there was still so much they didn't know they didn't feel comfortable putting the student athletes at a potential health risk. Even if you disagree that's at least a pretty reasonable stance that's hard to really argue with. If I was a parent I'd be fine with that---I'd prefer that to the SEC saying "we're just going to play and hope for the best. If a kid gets sick some other kid will play." Instead he says nothing and takes a PR beating for a week after doing the safe thing. And then instead of saying "the decision will not be revisited" or whatever he said just say "as of now we have no plans to revisit the decision but if new information arises we reserve the right to revisit it at that time."

What are you waiting to hear? Some sort of assurance that 8 games are enough?

There are no guarantees that any team even finishes its season. The ACC started sooner but if there are outbreaks they could end up playing less games than the B1G. Who knows?

The selection process will likely end up being more subjective than ever, comparing uneven schedules, considering which key players missed games, you name it. It's 2020.

Exactly. I don't begrudge the decision that they made to keep kids safe - presuming that is what it was all about, as we'll never know for sure. Anyhow, what I do begrudge is the handling of the situation. Frankly, what you wrote in combination of the "we didn't expect the blowback we received" suggests to me that he's not ready for this job. This wasn't a minor decision. It was seemingly handled in a completely flippant manner by conference leadership. A lack of foresight that this would blow up the way it did in combination with treating it in a flippant manner which grew to a defiant position is a barometer that we should not ignore.

Getting football back in a safe manner was step one in dealing with him. The conference leadership at the university President / Chancellor level would be well served to find a way to gracefully exit him from his position in the B1G. On the job training is not an acceptable solution for this level of executive leadership.

Yep. College Football Gameday's (yeah, I watched it) whole show yesterday was about the B1G returning to football, and they specifically mentioned the scenario of what constitutes enough games, asking specifically "would five games be enough for Clemson to get in the CFP, or three games for Alabama?".

This season is going to be such a fluid situation that it's impossible to answer those questions until we get closer to the selection date.

That's what some of the major players are saying.

Being a B1G fan, I would prefer that they at least make public the principles by which they will decide. Having the people who will make the decision saying they will decide later would sit better with me if I had good reason to trust these people. I don't, so I want to see some principles if not precise criteria. These are among the things Kevin should be looking into right now. Based on past performance, I doubt that's happening.
