Kareem WaLLker (dismissed from ttun)

I actually think Walker's game was in fact a better fit for the Ohio State zone blocking scheme than a traditional man blocking scheme like Michigan's or some other pro style systems. Which is why I find it interesting that he's somehow sold on that being his preferred offense, and in addition, OSU is somehow deficient in power run blocking. Maybe someone more experienced can weigh in, but I see someone with a strong initial read, strong initial cut, and then all about speed.

He's still taking several visits before deciding anything. At this point, who knows where he ends up. The most important thing is makes the best decision for himself so he's not just bouncing from school to school. Like the saga of Chris Clark.

Here's the Kareem Walker-Antonio Williams timeline:

Everything happened very quickly are the events are clearly connected:

October 9: Walker announces an official visit to Michigan

October 10: Ohio State contacts Williams, who has been committed to Wisconsin for over 10 months

October 13: Alleged "ultimatum" from Urban Meyer to Walker giving him 24 hours to solidify his commitment

October 13: Williams announces an unofficial visit (his dime) to Ohio State for October 17th game versus Penn State.

October 14: Williams de-commits from Wisconsin and re-opens his recruitment

October 17: Williams visits Ohio State

October 18: Williams commits to Ohio State

October 30: Walker re-affirms commitment to Ohio State, talks about enrolling early

November 3: Walker de-commits from Ohio State

November 4: Walker says that official visit to Ohio State is unlikely.

There are three ways to interpret the information:

(1) Ohio State knew that Walker was gone and immediately went to Plan B; or

(2) Being in the middle of a national championship run, Ohio State didn't want to deal with the uncertainty surrounding Walker and immediately went to a kid whose commitment would need less managing; or

(3) Ohio State used Walker's visit to Michigan as an excuse for cutting him loose in favor of another prospect.

Either way, it looks like the bridge has been irrevocably burned and that Walker will not be part of Ohio State's class of 2016.

I still find it curious that the Ohio State staff would be so quick to distance themselves from a 5* prospect who was committed to them, but the staff did the same thing with Terrell Hall (remember him?). It looks like Urban Meyer is not in the mood to chase flighty prospects this year.

He compares himself to marshon from Seattle and that couldn't be further from the truth. One's big and powerful and the other is smaller and quick so don't know where he was going with that one.

Walker has to go to the right system to be successful because at his size (shade over 200) I formation would not bode well for him. Someone like Clemson would work out though.
I believe Walker is closer to 210ish and can easily play his frosh year in the 220s without losing his current speed. I think the I formation works best for him, not a spread or zone read system as his game doesn't fit hitting the perimeter but running up the middle. I guess I disagree with you and @Poe McKnoe 's assessment of what offense fits him because to me he needs to be in an offense that is traditional and pro style like a scUM or Bama. Williams is more versatile and IMO has a style similar to Zeke where he can hit a home run on the outside but can still run inside. But idk about either of their hands or blocking, but that's something that can be worked on in college. I think he's a one cut RB with decent speed and very good power, but he won't outrun many defenders.

I just don't see Kareem's abilities like a Lynch though and it's just not about his size. IMO Kareem is far from a inside runner and while he lists his size at 210 he is a little taller than normal at 6'1 which makes him particularly lean. Obviously he will bulk up once in college but when I think of Kareem I think of someone with great speed but someone that doesn't have some of the breaking tackle abilities/Power you will need when running I formation.

Obviously I wish the guy well and I'm not bitter towards him (Mainly because I feel that highly about Williams) but I hope he ends up in a offense that allows him to play in space a little more than a school like Alabama/scum can provide.

Alabama shouldn't even be a option for Kareem IMO... just can't see him staying healthy in the SEC.
