Kansas Jayhawks (official thread)

What does puzzle me is why either school would leave a situation in which they are all but guaranteed a CFBP slot just for winning their conference. They've weathered the Baylor/TCU blip. Who's going to challenge them in that league? They sure aren't going to be in more playoffs just by being part of the SEC. And no, not interested in having either of them in the Big Ten.

UT and OU see the future of college football:

1) The Big XII has a footprint of only 5 states. Only one of those states (Texas) has a sizeable population and there's only 2 cities (Dallas-Fort Worth and Houston) with a significant TV market. The Big XII only has 2 marquee football schools (UT and OU). The Big XII Network goes by the way of tube TVs and aerials on your roof; and will never get a big money TV network deal anywhere comparable to what the SEC or the B1G will be getting.

2) UT is the flagship school in the state of Texas; however, they are currently playing 2nd fiddle to (their little brother) Texas A&M who is reaping the benefits of being in the SEC. For a football program to be competitive for a national championship the school must be a name brand, have the national exposure, and get the "big money" that comes by being in a conference with a mega TV network deal.

3). Texas is getting raided by Ohio State and SEC schools for recruits and the NIL money for active players hasn't been equal to what other programs are getting for their players (not yet anyway).

Doing the math, something I’m not good at, looks to me that the Big 12 pot is still more per school than the SEC, AND Texas had their own sweetheart deal.

That won’t be the case if the deal goes down, but for right now dividing the pot with 16 or 18 teams seems to mean less money and I don’t think Texas will be allowed to keep Texas Net.

Oh they definitely have to give up the Longhorn network! SEC won't let them keep that

"If I put a Texas logo up in that box instead of that little Jayhawk, and we had that resume, Texas would be a top 10 team."

I don't know about top 10; but Kansas probably should be in the top 25. However, they are an underdog at home vs Iowa State today.

I'm sure their 4 wins are more impressive than scUM's 4 wins and scUM is ranked #4.....:roll1:
