Juniors leaving early - speculation thread

the most updated draft position rankings dont even have youboty in the top 15 cb's eligible for the draft.

i have never really thought he was a strong possibility to leave, and he isnt having the stellar season he needs to raise his stock. we'll see what happens.

which site? he's definitely a national name. I'm not saying he's the best, but he's pretty well known. You don't shut down two AA wrs in back to back weeks and go unnoticed (stubblefield & edwards)

I don't think Holmes has the size to be the #1 WR in the draft whenever he goes. There will always be a 6'4" prototypical WR out there that will look sexier to drafters than Holmes will. I think Holmes would be great in the Colts offense, if they needed another WR. If he falls to the second round he will be a steal.

Agreed about Holmes. While he may be considered the best college WR, the NFL has different standards. Not saying those standards are right or wrong but they love tall physicall receivers that have speed. Unless Holmes grows an inch or two he will not go top 15. He may go late in the 1st round depending on need and how many "big" receivers are in this draft.

While I would love to have Holmes for the Browns in the 2nd round I have my mind made up that I want Carpenter in the 2nd round in Orange & Brown being the stud rush LB in the 3-4 we need. :)

Marcus Vick will surpass his Brother's successes eventually. Plays a smarter style of Football than his big Bro., but I do see him sticking around for another year.

Vicks gotta stay outta trouble too. I wouldnt put my team on the shoulders of a kid who might not be there week to week in the NFL. Vick has alot of growing up to do before he can be a gamebreaker week in and week out at the next level, IMO.

i have to say that I think his stock does go higher. If he comes back next year and lights it up, he moves up higher in the draft. Right now he is the best WR, but not going to be the #1 pick, if he has a monster season next year he could rise to the the #1 pick.

What, #1 overall? No way--as the top WR this year he could go top-15-20, but I think that's his ceiling (and that's darn high, considering Jenkins was about the same).

Added to that, is the fact that Jenkins wasn't rated very high, and was considered slow by many scouts, until he proved his stud status in an all-star game, and proved he wasn't slow at the combine, and private workouts. Santonio won't be able to prove that he's not 6'4" and unless he runs a sub 4.4 40, scouts for teams bad enough to pick higher than 15 won't be able to get past his height, regardless of route running and hands. That's why their teams are so bad.

One lure back for Holmes may be...*gasp* an offesive coordinator. His numbers would sky rocket... and i would think he knows that too. Because of his size I'd say he goes late second round early third...I think he'll be a steal because of the way he plays the game (blocks, routes, hands, etc) but if he were to come back and have a productive year he could possibly jump to late first round, early second and get a monster signing bonus. I have a slight bias though...:(

Please don't take this the wrong way fellas. If this isn't the place to talk about such things, then no such place exists.

But any talk about Holmes staying must be taken for what it is. Guys who like to talk about football, talking about football.

For Santonio Holmes, this is real life. Imagine you have a family to support and you are a college student who BY NCAA FIAT cannot make sufficient money to support them above the squalid condition of your average college student. You can do this for another year, or you can upgrade your family's life dramatically right now. Which is the right choice?

We praised Mike Doss for putting his mother's wishes first. We should also praise SH for putting HIS family first.

Santonio is gone after this year, and God bless him for putting his family's needs above my most heartfelt desires as a Buckeye fan.

I believe Santonio Holmes is leaving. He's already been here 4 years, he has to kids to take care of, and many small receivers are taken in the first round. Santonio wasn't shy about telling people at spring practice last spring that this would be his last year.
