June Jones (official thread)

MRH, I remember one drunken night end to a saturday night watching Hawai'i play UC. I remember a fight a broke out, chippy penalties, etc. UC's coach (I think Minter) and AD said they where done with dealing with them and would recommend no one go out there for a game.

Wow, you sure are a classy one.

The guy says they can play with OSU this year, you claim that's true because they beat teams in 2004 that beat/almost beat us.

You're right, what a dipshit I am :roll1:

:slappy:

Remember you talking to somebody who rarely if ever watches OSU play.

The person who insists on saying Hawaii could hang with us, even though their photographer says they couldn't.
Two missed FGs cost them. They outgained the Beavers by 200 yards, dominated the TOP, and gave up a KO TD. They outplayed a team that beat USC. They would indeed hang with us on their field at least into the fourth...

the thuggery and home cookin' that goes on out there is unreal. better bring tons of bodyguards for the team, coaches, and fans!!! i understand programs who want to "reward" the players by taking them out there... but i've heard athletic directors say they'll never take a team there again.

They also used racial slurs toward Cincinnati players. There have been many games where players have talked more shit than normal and started scuffles, escepially when the game is close or they're losing.

Many younger Hawaiians have a Napoleon complex...that was on display last when ESPN played a portion of a pre-game tirade by Alama-Francis who told his teammates to "send Oregon back where they belong"...

Hope noboby calls me a dipstick for this, but here's the facts as I know them:

1. Jones should spend a lot less time with the national media and more time recruiting (especially defensively), if he wishes to run with the big dogs.
2. To play at the elite level, you need three phases of the game to be in it. Facing teams with equal or superior athletes, special teams become even more of a factor. Look at last night - two missed FG's and a returned KO for a touchdown. Think that wasn't a factor in the end?
3. If you want to bring pressure defensively, you better have some quality DB's, especially at corner.
4. Good defenses have more than one talented pass rusher. Other than Alabama, UH had not seen a team with multiple talented pass rushers. Brennan saw more heat last night than he had seen in quite a while.
5. One can be passionate about tOSU, even without having attended the school or a game. It will be tough to find anyone out there who bleeds scarlet and gray more than Mililani.
6. Had Jones not made this comment, and there are many here who rolled their eyes when he did, this discussion would not be taking place.
7. UH has a solid team this year. Ohio State has an exceptional team this year. I hope like hell that this is reflected on January 8.
8. Let's not leave rmjones25 hanging - :io: .

You need to be more specific with that statement...

June Jones has resigned as Hawaii's head coach, according to a prominent member of "Na Koa", Hawaii's Booster Club. According to the member, Jones listed 19 conditions that were previously promised him that to date haven't been met (these conditions weren't conditions for him but rather for the program). The university denies receiving his resigniation letter, but Jones is currently enroute to Dallas to speak with SMU officials about the head coaching job.
