June Jones (official thread)

Their offense this year is likely their best ever. Colt Brennen is light years ahead of Timmy Chang in that he is more accurate and far more consistent.

Looks like your opinion of Brennan, like that of many, has changed somewhat after the second half of the season. Here's what you said on October 22nd, after I placed Brennan 4th on my Heisman list (when almost none of the national media were mentioning him at all).

Brennen is little more than a Caucasian Timmy Chang. He's unreal when not under pressure and in the groove, but under pressure he's just a "good" QB. Also, NMSU's defense is so bad that even though NMSU has the top passing offense in the country, they were 20-point underdogs at home.

For reference, that was part of post #357 in the Heisman thread.

Anxious to see Mili's spin on this one.

Mili,

Who would win in a game between Hawaii and Notre Dame?

Notre Dame DID somehow manage to give up more yards to Purdue than did Hawaii. They came within one touchdown of Hawaii's offensive output vs. the Boilermakers, but then, so did Indiana State.

Not that the transitive property applies in football or anything...

I don't think Mili needs to spin anything. Brennan has thrown 28 TDs with only 4 picks since October 20th. Most people didn't think Brennan could sustain his huge numbers, or manage to do it with so few interceptions.

How he performs in the NFL still remains to be seen, but setting a record for TD passes and QB efficiency rating should get a guy a trip to the Heisman ceremony, regardless of what system he's playing in.

Good point...

Purdue giving up only 3 td passes broke a string of 9 consecutive games in which he'd thrown at least 4.

Incidentally, though PU garners modest respect on anyone's Big 10 schedule, they drew a crowd of 47,825 at Hawaii. Their 2nd largest home crowd was 34,051 for the Idaho game.

MiliL "They would give us serious trouble." May be for a half or so but I don't see it being closer than 20pts.

And for reference since people are referencing old posts I said, Hawai'i would go undefeated at home after watching them play in Tuscaloosa! One game to go.

Folks, just watch the game this weekend and you'll be impressed I think. Remember now, Oregon St. BEAT USC!

He has been impressive this season, and his accuracy and consistency are way above last season. I am far more impressed with him now than I was going into the season, and after the first few games.

No spin here. Actually on a neutral field the scoreboard would be lit up like a pinball machine. I no-shit seriously think Hawaii could beat them, since ND's defense would simply give up more than Hawaii's...

That would have Chubby Chuck ordering some Hawaiian doughnuts at the half.:tongue2:

Those would be Portagee (Portugese) Donuts aka Malasadas and yes, Chuck would make Leonard's go broke!

LOL!

Every mid-major feels they can compete with any team they play, and that is how they should feel. I wouldn't want my head coach saying NIU couldn't compete with OSU.

However when you get on the field it's an entirely different story, at least this year with Ohio State. I saw up close and personal what the Bucks can do to a team. You could have put up 70 if you wanted to, and NIU is not a bad team.

Btw, with the way NIU is playing right now they could win at Hawaii. We are playing by far our best football of the year. Wolfe would run for 2,000,000,000,000,000 yards on them. I think we have a shot to beat TCU also.

Ok here's a scenario: Hawai'i beats Oregon St. and USC beats Ohio State...you'll hear the Rainbow Warriors coming over here spouting off...that's for sure!

That theory doesn't work. I tried that before NIU played OSU, and we all saw how that worked out.

I can always hang my hat on that I was right Garrett Wolfe would do whatever he wanted to against you. :wink2:
