June Jones (official thread)

Before this goes any further, the 2004 UH team, which had Timmy Chang as a senior, closed out their year by beating a 6-6 Northwestern team by 8 points and a 5-7 Michigan State team by 3 points. The 2003 UH team did manage an 8 point victory over 4-8 Alabama, who was also short about 15 scholarships at the time.

The teams that UH has faced that actually had a pulse (here, there, or anywhere) like USC and Wisconsin over the past several years, have resulted in very ugly, lopsided losses for UH.

Only one way to settle this, simulate on Playstation and see who wins.

BTW, didn't Michigan go out there a few years back after the OSU game and handle The Rainbows?

TSUN has played and beaten Hawaii twice - both games were season-enders out there.

27-10 in 1986, two weeks after winning The Game.

48-17 in 1998, one week after losing The Game.

This reminds me of a quote I read recently attributed to the actor Will Smith in which (paraphrase) he said that he honestly believes that he could fly the space shuttle if someone gave him a book saying how to do it and the opportunity.

June and Will may get their weed from the same distributor.

Seriously, a Mickey Mouse offense vs. a real team? A dominant team?

I don't care what field, the game isn't close. Sorry Mili, you're grasping for straws on this one. Hawaii could have given Ohio State a game on their field with the team they have now against the Ohio State team of 2004. But of 2006? That's just crazy talk.

Just like Illinois couldn't hang with us this year... :roll1:

In 1986, Hawaii was a mediocre 7-5 team, which had coincidentally beat Wisconsin in the second game of the season (at Hawaii).

In 1998, Hawaii was the worst team in college football and had lost the previous week to Northwestern by the nearly identical score of 47-21.

Results from a decade and two decades ago aren't indicative of the offensive juggernaught they have now, which is why they've been able to beat mid-level Big Ten teams at home over the last few years. And their defense isn't nearly as bad this year. Again, I'm not saying they'd beat us (I seriously doubt they would), they'd give us more of a game than most here (who are lucky to have seen them play once or twice this year) would acknowledge.

But who would win if the game was played on the moon and both teams had to travel the same distance?
