Yeah not sure how it went from "if osu offers..."
To "not sure if there's room"...
IMO was just destroyed DB recruiting. We need another DT and not another DB.
Agree. Its crazy how sometimes fans fall I'm love with HS recruits and forget about the players on their current roster that have been in college for a year or more. And already know the rigors of practice, games and balancing it with school work. Not to mention we have one of the best D line coaches in the business. Our DBs have little to no experience and most of the leadership left for the NFL. At least we have some D lineman with game experience and a number with bowl game experience. At this point we get the best available, and that's what the staff seems to be doingStrongly disagree. Look at available bodies for safety vs. DT and then get back to me. Not much is proven with either position but there are definitely more bodies to work with at DT. Safety is a bigger concern from an available bodies perspective.
And the DBs were bringing in seem to be versatile enough to play CB or S.DB's are also mainstays of special teams. 3rd string DTs may not see the field. 3rd string safeties blow up kick returners.

Nitpicker! Nitpicker!I tend to agree with you. 4 DB recruits makes total sense...5 not so much considering I think we reached a little bit there. Sure, some DE types could convert to DT but when we routinely played that game in the Tressel era, it did not work out so well (overall we had great success, I just mean at the DT position and that was a thorn in our side for some time). We have killed it recruiting under UFM but the only deficiency has been missing out on our first and second options at DT for the most part. Even when we killed it in '13 and '14, Hill and Munger were the only true DTs we brought in. '15 we brought in bodies, but at the last hour when we missed on everyone else. In '16, we missed on Lawrence, Jackson, Rochester, Campbell, Onewenu, and Daniels...not like I expected to land even half of those, but just one was pretty realistic. I will gladly eat crow if DT is a position of strength in the next two years and I hope I do, but I just don't see it.
And to be perfectly clear, this is nitpicking at its finest considering we are bringing in what I think is the best recruiting class at Ohio State in the past 20 years or so. I just think with that last spot, grabbing a DT would have fit our needs better, particularly King...really think he would be in the two-deep right away. DT was a clear position of need heading into this recruiting cycle and while we put a ton of effort into addressing that need, it appears to have been mostly unfulfilled. Barrow is going to be an absolute STUD here if he stays healthy, I just would have liked to see at least one of the above DBs in this class.
