Joshua Shaw (official thread)

Sorry, but:

[no one would be surprised by a USC verbal, after his silent commitment]

clearly implies he silently committed to USC.

USC rivals recruiting guy would disagree to an extent. He certainly likes OSU, but nobody on the USC board would be surprised if he went to USC, after his "silent" commitment.

He has a USC offer a long long time and no matter what he says to other services, USC is still in the lead and will be hard to beat out.

The Tennessee guys feel he has been silent to them for a very long time.

Edit: referring to Dietrich Riley. The general feeling is that he is looking to have some fun visits, and already has his destination set.

The fires caused a lot of football teams to change schedules last week, and Palmdale quarterback/corner back Josh Shaw had to miss a scrimmage against Canyon on Saturday in Thousand Oaks because he was at the University of Washington on a recruiting trip.

"I felt really bad, but our coach understood because I had booked the plane ticket way back in May," Shaw said.

Shaw has no less than 10 favorites, including USC and UCLA, along with Ohio State, Washington, LSU, Florida, Notre Dame, Michigan, Oklahoma and Tennessee.

"I have a big box filled with recruiting letters, and that makes me feel good, but I'm a humble person," Shaw said.

Shaw is being recruited as a defensive back.

RECRUITING WATCH
Game also serves as pitch to recruits

The curious will come from far and wide to see tonight's Ohio State-Southern California showdown in Ohio Stadium, and for good reason, said Josh Shaw of Palmdale, Calif.

"I guess it speaks for itself," Shaw said. "It's going to be one of the biggest games of the year."

It's also shaping up to be one of the more important recruiting weekends of the season for the Buckeyes. They are playing host to an expected nine players who are making official visits.

Not the least of them is Shaw, a blue-chip cornerback who has both OSU and USC near the top of his list. He expected to hop on a plane out of Los Angeles this morning and be here well before kickoff.
"When I was younger, one of my goals was to leave California," Shaw said. "Now that the opportunity is here, I might as well take it and run with it."

He isn't even 18, and he has several tickets out of state, though USC is a strong contender for his services.

"I just feel blessed, because there are a lot of people out there who don't even have one scholarship offer," Shaw said. "So I am very humbled about it. I don't want to take anything for granted."

He also promised the OSU coaches that, despite both schools being on his radar, this trip is all about rooting for the Buckeyes.

"I told them I will be wearing all of my Ohio State gear," Shaw said, laughing. "So they know."

They also wouldn't mind hearing something more definitive from Shaw about his future before his 48-hour official visit ends, but that probably isn't going to happen. Shaw has official visits scheduled for Notre Dame, Florida and Louisiana State in the next several weeks, and can watch USC or UCLA anytime he likes.

"I'm looking for a place where my family will be comfortable with me attending, which of course means the academics being strong, and a place where I think they will put the best players on the field," Shaw said. "I want to go into a program that's used to winning. Most of the schools I'm looking at already have that."

Shaw was here on an unofficial visit a couple of months ago, which means this official visit really amounts to being an expenses-paid trip to see one of the premier intersectional games of the regular season.

"Really, on this trip, all I'm really hoping to see is the game atmosphere," Shaw said. "And I think it's going to be a great game."

The Columbus Dispatch : RECRUITING WATCH

Hart 37, Palmdale 34: C.J. Reyes kicked a 33-yard field goal with five seconds left to lift the host Indians to their first win of the season.

Palmdale had tied the score midway through the fourth quarter when Joshua Shaw threw his second touchdown pass of the game - a 24-yard strike to David Richards.

Reyes completed 26 of 40 passes for 367 yards and three touchdowns and also rushed for a score.

Ty MacArthur caught 11 of those passes for 217 yards and scored three times for Hart.

Palmdale was led by Shaw, who went 12 of 26 for 213 yards and two scores through the air; ran eight times for 117 yards and had a another score when he ran back a kickoff 89 yards.

Shaw still has Ohio State at the top of his list

Defensive back Joshua Shaw (Palmdale, Calif./Palmdale) headed into his official visit to Ohio State with the Buckeyes as a solid leader. After a heartbreaking loss to USC, nothing changed.

Shaw, one of the elite defensive backs in the nation, took his first official visit of the year to Columbus this past weekend. The trip was Shaw's second to Ohio State after taking an unofficial visit in the summer.

"It was incredible," Shaw said. "Everything about the trip was great. The game atmosphere was like nothing I've ever seen and the game itself was unbelievable. Ohio State really should have won. They basically dominated the whole game until the final drive.

"It was just super, super crazy there, loudest place I've ever seen. Matt Barkley pulled it out in the end. He's a great player, I can see why he was so hyped but Ohio State was the better team."

Shaw said the game atmosphere wasn't the only highlight of the visit.

"The whole trip was great but just hanging out with the players on the team and meeting everyone was a fun experience. Nate Oliver and Duron Carter were my hosts but everyone hung out together. It's like a big family there and I felt comfortable the whole time.

"Ohio State is definitely still my top school, no doubt about that. I still want to take my visits though, that has always been my plan and I'm sticking to it. I leave for Florida next week and then I have October trips to Notre Dame and LSU. I'm hoping to have my decision made by Christmas but I may keep it secret and go public at the Under Armour All-American game."

Shaw's Father Also Very Impressed | Ohio State Buckeyes College Football Recruiting, OSU Big Ten Football, OSU Basketball – Bucknuts.com

This morning I posted a premium story on Josh Shaw (Palmdale, Calif.) and his official visit to Ohio State over the weekend. Shaw had a great time and the Buckeyes definitely remain his leader.

However, Josh was not the only Shaw very impressed with Ohio State. His father James Shaw went with Josh on the visit and also loved what he saw and heard in Columbus.

"It was overwhelming," James said. "(Josh) is loving Ohio State. They treated us great. The whole (visit) was great."

Under Armour All-American defensive back Joshua Shaw (Palmdale, Calif./Palmdale) and his parents were in Columbus this weekend on an official visit to Ohio State. Shaw's parents flew home on Sunday night while Shaw headed home Monday morning.

Bucknuts.com caught up with Shaw just before he stepped on the plane to head back to the West Coast.

"Man, I'm glad I got to experience that," Shaw said. "I have nothing negative to say. Football, the people, the school, everything was just a great experience."

Shaw was of course in the Horseshoe on Saturday night as the Buckeyes took on USC.

"The game blew me away," Shaw said. "I thought Ohio State was going to win, but USC was the one that finished."

When asked about the atmosphere in the 'Shoe,' Shaw said, "It was ten times better than anything I've ever experienced before."

Palmdale 45, Kennedy 13
by Earle Story (AVSports.com)

Visiting Kennedy managed to get on the scoreboard first Friday night at Palmdale High, but the game belonged to Palmdale after that. Joey Garba scored on a 65 yard run to make it 7-6 Kennedy. Then, in the 2nd quarter, Falcon QB Josh Shaw put on a show.

Shaw returned a punt 72 yards, had a 22 yard TD run, and topped things off with a 59 yard TD pass giving the Falcons a 28-7 lead at the half.

Garba added two more TD runs in the 3rd quarter to open the lead up to 42-7. A 31 yard field goal by Palmdale and a late Kennedy TD wrapped up the scoring.
