Jordan Hicks (Philadelphia Eagles)

Hicks, Koyack Happenings | Ohio State Buckeyes College Football Recruiting, OSU Big Ten Football, OSU Basketball – Bucknuts.com

The weekly Jordan Hicks teleconference was cancelled today, but will likely resume next Monday. Hicks did not visit anywhere this past weekend and won't visit anywhere this coming weekend.

Hicks and his Lakota West teammates take on Cincinnati Anderson on Saturday in a first round playoff game. Buckeye commitment Andrew Norwell remains out for Anderson as he recovers from a broken leg.

Jordan Hicks, LB
West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West
Rank: No. 2 | Highlights
Sources indicate that Texas, which doesn't often chase out-of-state prospects with vigor, made a huge impact during Hicks' official visit to Austin. With that, can they hold off a charging Florida? Or the in-state Buckeyes? Time will tell, but those three schools are the best bets for Hicks.

Can't buck the trend in Ohio
Conley By Bill Conley

The Buckeye State is always one of the most heavily recruited states in the country. Ohio has a large number of colleges that play football in all divisions, and Ohio high school football is greatly respected thanks to its quality and tradition. These factors attract the attention of many college football programs from around the country, especially in the Midwest, and this year is no exception.

Unlike the 2009 class of recruits, which was heavy in terms of defensive talent, the 2010 class is much more diverse. The top two players are defensive standouts, but there are seven offensive players in the top 10.

Few recruiting analysts would dispute that last year's class was stronger, as it included 14 four-star athletes compared to just six in 2010. However, the 2010 class has outside linebacker Jordan Hicks (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West), who is the first five-star player from the Buckeye State since Chris "Beanie" Wells (Arizona Cardinals). Hicks is not only the best player in Ohio but also the No. 2 prospect in the nation.

Jordan Hicks
Quick, athletic, strong, physical and aggressive are adjectives used to describe the talented linebacker. When you want to call a blitz off the edge, call this guy's number. He comes from the outside like a rocket and will not be denied. He'll either get to the quarterback or flush him out of the pocket. Explosive on contact, Hicks is a coach's dream and an opponent's nightmare. Look for him to decide between Ohio State and Texas, even though Florida and USC could be sleepers.

The longer he waits the worse for OSU just my opinion.

Depends. Usually I would say the instate pressure mounts the loner it waits. The only exception to this, imo, is when Florida or USC are involved because they clean up on NLOID. Texas is more known as an opener than a closer. In the case of Hicks, I don't think he ends up here regardless of when he announces but I tend to think if it comes down to OSU and Texas, it is to our advantage that he waits.

I hope we get him....missing on the #1 recruit in your home state would be a tough one....but if we are not the right fit then I understand. I can`t think of another school with better depth at LB then here and I hope he wants to come here and beat out the best to play. This defense should be amazing for years to come, especially if we can get a few stud DT`s. Go Bucks

"Jordan Hicks is the best linebacker in the country. They are going to be a tough challenge for us," Giesting said simply.

Anderson squeaks past Lakota West on late field goal

West (9-2) was unable to take advantage of two first-half turnovers by the Redskins, including Jordan Hicks' interception and return to midfield with 2:59 to go before intermission.

A three-and-out ensued, and Anderson (11-0) marched down the field for the go-ahead score on Kyle Slater's 14-yard run to make it 14-13 with 28 ticks left.

"We had chances, and we didn't capitalize," Hicks said. "We had too many stupid mistakes. They came out ready to play and we didn't."
