Lakota West senior LB Jordan Hicks plans to take an official visit to Florida on Dec. 12. Hicks is considering official visits to Alabama and USC but those dates haven?t been scheduled.

Hicks took an official visit to Texas this past weekend. It was the second time he visited the campus during his high school career. Hicks said the Texas players and coaching staff made him feel welcome this past weekend.

?I had a lot of fun,? Hicks said. ?I learned a lot.?

Hicks said he would likely decide about early graduation after the Florida trip in December.

Hicks said he is also considering another unofficial visit to Ohio State for a game sometime.

When asked when he might make a college choice, Hicks said he could envision himself deciding before Christmas, but that wasn?t in stone.

I like the idea of an unofficial back to OSU after his UT trip..makes me think he saw/heard some things at Texas he wants to compare/confirm at OSU......meaning he doesn't have longhorns in his eyes after the trip.

If they showed him something different than what he has seen at OSU..he wants to go back to OSU to see if we have the same.....speculation on my part...obviously.

The last time I checked, neither Urban Meyer, Jim Tressel, Mack Brown nor Pete Carroll have ever called my cell phone - let alone - within minutes of each other.

That is not the case for West Chester Lakota West head football coach Larry Cox.

During the Under Armour All-America Game Selection Tour ceremony Thursday at Lakota West in which senior linebacker Jordan Hicks was presented with an honorary game jersey, the the Florida, Ohio State, Texas and USC head football coaches called Cox to speak with Hicks and congratulate him for the honor.

All four schools, as well as Alabama, are in Hicks' top five college choices.

Meyer called Cox's phone while Hicks was fielding questions from media in attendance.

"That was Coach Meyer sending his best - from Florida," Cox chuckled. "He said, 'Congratulations! We'll talk later'."

Hicks spoke with all four coaches after the official ceremony ended.

WEST CHESTER, Ohio -- Recruiting has been a huge part of Jordan Hicks' life for the past year. Hicks, the nation's second-ranked prospect and the top OLB in the country, has been dealing with recruiters, reporters and fans wondering where he's going to play college football for months and months.

But that all took a backseat on Thursday when Hicks was honored on Thursday for his selection to the 2010 Under Armour All-America Game. He was presented an honorary game jersey in a ceremony at Lakota West High School.

"First of all I'd like to thank everyone for coming out," Hicks said. "I'd like to thank my teammates and my coaches. I'd like to thank my family for supporting me. It's kind of surreal. It's exciting, but it's very humbling.

In attendance were many of the key people in Hicks' life including his mother, Kelly Justice. Justice has accompanied her son on his two official visits to this point, Ohio State and Texas. She will be with him as he visits Florida the weekend of Dec. 12 as well as USC and Alabama.

"Most likely I'll visit USC when they play UCLA (Nov. 28) and Alabama when they play Tennessee (Oct. 24)," Hicks said. "But those dates are tentative."

But as much as recruiting and football have been a part of Hicks' life, there is so much more to him than big hits and big plays.

"He's a great football player, that goes without saying," Lakota West coach Larry Cox said. "But he's as good a person as he is an athlete. When you put the grades and character in, that sets him apart from everyone else."

Hicks' excellence in the classroom is no accident.

"I want to do well at whatever I do," Hicks said. "My mom has always stressed education."

Added Cox: "His mom has stayed on top of things. She has pushed education as parents should."
