Jordan Hicks (Philadelphia Eagles)

College Football Recruiting On the Trail 2010 - ESPN

Top linebacker Aaron Franklin settles on the Sooners
Oklahoma has topped the Texas Longhorns for a Class of 2010 commitment from outside linebacker Aaron Franklin of Marshall, Texas.

The 6-foot-1, 210-pound standout was also offered by Oklahoma State, Stanford, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Baylor, Nebraska, North Carolina and TCU, among others.

He told ESPN affiliate Web site OUInsider.com, "I've developed a good relationship with the coaches and I feel good about their program. I feel good about my relationship with the coaches. I just feel good about the place."

Franklin becomes the 20th pledge for the Sooners.

Truth be told I was hoping Franklin would end up at UT...not that it would have made that much of a difference...

Hicks has a spot wherever he chooses and I doubt he is going to be scared off my any other recruits in this class or any depth charts...having said that, anything that can give a kid pause is something to consider. As I said, I doubt it makes that much of a difference in the long run...

This year's group of high school outside linebackers are versatile, explosive playmakers - ESPN

Top prospects

Jordan Hicks | Highlights
(West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West)
College: Undecided

The No. 2 overall prospect in the country has a supreme blend of size, speed, explosiveness and lateral agility. It's rare to find a linebacker who can be so disruptive when attacking downhill but also has the hip fluidity to match up and play in space. Hicks is the best defensive prospect we have seen out of the Midwest in recent years.

Under Armour All-American linebacker Jordan Hicks has scheduled two official visits. It is not surprising the two schools he has scheduled.

Hicks will make an official visit to Ohio State the weekend of Sept. 12 when the Buckeyes play USC. He will make an official visit to Texas the weekend of Oct. 10 when the Longhorns play Colorado.

Among the other stars scheduled for official visits to Ohio State the weekend of Sept. 12 are defensive backs Josh Shaw and LaMarcus Joyner, running back Corey Brown, offensive linemen Seantrel Henderson and Chaz Green and punter Chad Hagan.

Just what a kid who doesn't really enjoy the recruiting process wants...a weekly media conference sponsored by his own school:

Does he hate the attention from the media, or the constant phone calls? This would allow him to ignore the constant calls and have an all-encompassing weekly update for everybody. I personally think this is a good idea, and I would have to think Jordan agreed to it.
