The USC point is a good one. The West Coast seems to be reshapping. Maybe OSU being seen as a stable raising power, with our coaches, and especially considering our view of playing freshman who can handle it, who knows, we certainly are not out of it.Landing Dontre wasn't likely either and he was a verbal to another school. With a fan base as large as tOSU one has to wonder if we make a kid's early list just to get exposure but it is encouraging to me that he mentioned us early in the process. He has an OV visit coming up against Wisky...at night....on ABC. And of course we have a pretty good recruiting staff. I'm certainly not saying we are a favorite but I certainly wouldn't count us out either. Considering the fiasco unfolding at USC I don't see them as a major threat.
A poor night for the Poly football team went from bad to horrific when star player John “JuJu” Smith went down with a head injury in the second quarter.
The injury to Smith happened on a routine play in the second quarter. Smith had caught the ball and was rounding the corner on the left side of the field when he was tackled from behind and went helmet-first into the knees of teammate Douglas Curry. Both players remained down on the ground, Smith holding his head and Curry his knee.
After a routine concussion test, Smith — who never lost consciousness or movement in his extremeties — was immobilized and taken via ambulance to Long Beach Memorial Hospital. He gave his mother a thumbs up as he was being wheeled away on a stretcher. Smith’s aunt responded to text messages using Smith’s phone later in the night, saying, “JuJu’s okay.” No word at deadline as to whether he’d been released or would be kept for observation.
Smith had been scheduled to catch an eastbound flight Friday night for his official recruiting visit to Ohio State.
not sure if this affects his visit today.....

JuJu Injury Update
There were 17 football games played by Long Beach area teams on Friday night, but all anybody on the Press-Telegram Twitter timeline wanted to talk about was the status of John “JuJu” Smith. Injured in the second quarter, Smith was taken from the field in an ambulance.
Our deadline report that Smith was okay was confirmed late Friday night in a series of text messages exchanged with his family as he was tended to at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center. After arriving in the ambulance (with his mother riding along), Smith was examined and passed all of his post-concussion tests. The temporary numbness he’d experienced on the field was determined to be caused by a stinger injury to his shoulder—the injury having been determined to be in the collarbone area, an X-Ray was performed, and came back negative.
There won’t be word on the extent of the injury until later in the week, as far as the way it affects his ability to play in the next few games. But Smith was released and in good spirits with his family on Friday night. He was well enough to get on a plane headed to Ohio for his official recruiting visit with Ohio State.
