He started for the Buckeyes from 1960 to 1962 and helped lead the team to the 1960 National Championship.

Havlicek's No. 5 jersey was retired by Ohio State during the 2005-2005 season.

John passed away on the day of the NFL Draft, which recalls the fact that he was drafted by the Browns in 1962. He was a WR that didn't stick in the last round of cuts in Cleveland. He then went to Boston and won 8 rings and was an All-Star 13 times, so it worked out OK.

The first NBA game I ever attended was Havlicek's last game in Ohio during the 77-78 season. The Cavs won that night, but I went with my grandpa - who is why I'm a Celtics fan - so that made it memorable.
